- TheShadowOfZamaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a difficult story for me to rate, since it really depends on your tastes. This story is not like most stories on this site. I will begin with the easiest parts to judge;
-The grammar is good, it won't bother you.
-The characters are interesting, especially the two girls Mirei and Mary are quite enjoyable. I found myself really caring about them in the end.
-Action: There's some really good action scenes in this story.
Now comes the hard part.
-The story is interesting, but it is difficult. It is a cosmic horror story similar to those Lovecraft created. However where Lovecraft didn't bother trying to explain something humans weren't meant to comprehend, the author does try to do that and well trying to comprehend that stuff is difficult and mentally tiring. There were chapters that were mentally exhaustive to read for me and you can't just skip them either, because they contain information and lore needed to understand later things.
Arguably you could gloss over some things, but well I read with the specific intention to be able to review every small detail, so that wasn't an option for me.
That said the story is compelling, there are some nice twists in there, interesting roads that are walked,... I won't lie. This story is a mountain, it will require effort to reach the top, but once there I am pretty certain of it that you will enjoy the view. By this point in time the story is complete and I honestly think this helps the story. Being able to read it in one sitting if you want to is better for this story than having to wait X amount of time for the next chapter.
I have left comments on pretty much every chapter of the story, so you can check them out if you're feeling doubtfull about this overall review. The author has been a very pleasant person, always willing to answer on question and critcisms that I had. So I think checking out these comments could be very illuminating for those still on the fence.
I am giving this story a 5/5, because I really enjoye - MArienachRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I think this has great potential, but the wording is a tad... off? Of course, they lambasted me for the same thing, so I understand. Good idea, BTW. I will follow this to see where it leads.
