Description

Cold is a special kind of cruel and Civilia is a country brimming with it. One of the last safe havens spared by the Mist. Not even the supernatural force of the Mist seems to want anything to do with it. The people not even worth swallowing.

This chilling place, Civilia, is all Rowan has ever known. However, left alone in his home, he wishes nothing more than to leave it behind. But a warm, sweltering curse binds him there.

The Defected. Those who are swallowed by the Mist are all rewarded, powerful, responsible. Their bodies, twisted by it, return stronger than ever. If they make it back to their world, they are beloved, valued and traded.

Rowan's home country Civilia has not even one Defected, but everyone, at least once, dreams they might be the first.

So, please bear with me,this will be my first review on RR (notwithstanding my internal monologue reviews) so I'm going to try my best to critique this story thus far (ch21). I tend to ramble write as well sooo~ anyway~
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD: (dunno how to do that fancy spoiler tag so just be warned that there are massive spoilers for the first 21 chpts):
I'm going to split this into a review of characters, story, and writing/style since those are what I believe to be the most important factors that constitute a story. (Note: I binged till ~ch13 then followed each release so please excuse if my memory is slightly hazy on exact specifics, I will mention this throughout the review as well). I will also be writing under the assumption that it would continue for my convenience in writing, by no means is it an expectation.
Characters:
So our main character that we follow is Rowan whilst the secondary characters would include a range from Hector to Garuda, Nero, and Alicia if I'm not leaving anyone out. Side character I may mention include Kane and Garnet with Garuda' brother but their involvement is much less then the others.
Rowan comes across as a decent main character, not too distinct but noticeable with his desire to fit in with his new (and arguable he wanted with his old) society along with some semblence of growth from the fear addled situation at the beginning to him actually being able to talk semi-comfortably with Hector, Garuda and Alicia. If I'm analysing correctly, then the prospective female romantic interest will be Garuda and I'm actually excited to see how his relationship with the appearance of Garnet will unfold. Not much I have to comment on him honestly.
Alicia is probably my favourite in terms of wanting to understand her mind, how she could be in a relationship with Nero when you look at how she saw Rowan (weak, manipulated him etc) and then the switch up with leaving him in charge of the group towards the most recent chapters?
