Description

Domina City. “The City of the Lady.” Built on a trash island in the West Atlantic by the labor of white-collar criminals, paid for by the United States and the Vatican, Domina was meant to be a beacon of hope and prosperity. A test, proving that criminals could be put to a better use than clogging up prisons.

Thirty years after building started, Domina is a blight on the face of the world, soaked in the blood of millions. Death is a fact of daily life. Gangs rule by no other than law their own strength, and entire cultures have arisen built on legends. Angels, demons, vampires and more fight each other for money and control. The fey release their monsters on the streets for no reason other than their own amusement, and bystanders are always caught in the crossfire. Every living soul in the city is a killer.

But even so, life goes on. People go to work, fall in love, raise families. The city grinds away, and the people survive.

Into this maelstrom of chaos comes Adam Anders, a young man trying to go to college with his friend. He has no idea what he has just stepped into. But then, Domina is in for a few surprises as well...

Right, let me start then. A normal city with a populace who like to modify their body. Nothing wrong with that right. A new guy from New York coming to the said city that normal people don't like. Okay, still nothing wrong. But then a screamers and superpowers, yeah something is definitely happening.
Style: So far, the story was told in 3rd person perspective with different characters pov. You don't like it?? Hear me out, me too!! But somehow, I like the choice of different pov from different characters to be honest. Never liked them, but somehow the story made it important for us to know different characters. They also met right away so, basically a pov from each people from the whole group.
Story: like being mentioned in the title, a story about zombies, and superpowers, and bio-mods. You got the bio-mods right away and zombies and superpowers will come out soon around chapter 7 and 8. Basically, a guy from NY comming to this new city with their own rules and illegals bio-mods. Even though he's a little confused about the change from his real world to the new world, he adjusted to it quickly. Nothing bad, somehow it's illogical how a person can adapt that fast but someone who gets the adventurous trait might be one who can get use to the idea quickly even though he/she doesn't really understand what's happening.
Grammar: in every review I don't really have a problem with the grammar, unless it change the whole story altogether. Not that I noticed anything wrong with the grammar here, because I'm focusing on the story and not the grammar.
Characters: so far you get more than one characters here, but as far as I can tell, they all have different personalities, so it's a nice one. Because making different characters with personalities are somewhat more difficult than we imagine. I liked the MC straight away and even I like the other protagonists in the story. It's rare for me to like all of the protagonists at the same time.
So overall, definitely my next favorite bo

Unfortunately, superhero stories are not my thing.
    Even so, here's my opinion:
Style: The text the author wrote in the classic third-person perspective. Each chapter has its own POV, which can change between characters. This helps to reveal more deeply each character and the relationship between them.
Story:  Many books were already written about superheroes. And to introduce the reader to something new, I'm sure, is a difficult task.  But the author has succeeded. The idea with bio mods is simply wonderful. In the book, people call them toys. It is to emphasize from where it all began. And of course, toys evolve. And at one point things go wrong. It's an interesting beginning of the plot, isn't it?
The only upsetting thing is the rapid development of the plot. Everything happens literally in half a day, in which the author stuffed a lot of events.
Grammar:  It's well written. There are a few mistakes and typos. But the errors are mostly in punctuation.
Character: There are quite a few characters, and apart from a couple of the main ones, the rest appear sporadically. Even so, they all seem alive, with their own problems and concerns.
Overall: A good story about superheroes and how they grow up. Unfortunately, the chapters I have read so far do not reveal in full force the dark side of the city and its uniqueness in this regard.

We're introduced to the four main characters with each their points of view and despite their seemingly ordinary lives, it appears destiny has other plans in store for them. We get a sneak peek into each of their lives before the real story begins and despite their casual interactions with others, the author hints that maybe there's more underneath the surface. We get a surprise twist at the end, leading us to believe that, yes, this author knows what they're doing. Hopefully, t these eemingly ordinary events and casual interactions lead to a culmination of action, adventure, romance, and mystery in a surprising and explosive climax that brings everything together.
    But only time can tell.

The story is what caught my attention with this one. It’s a slow burn, written in a distant 3rd person narrative. There are three POV’s, and the chapters (after the first one) are relatively short. There’s a mix of cyberpunk and specialty academy school-life vibe that’s instantly familiar and intriguing.
Adam who is attempting to attend college with his bff, who has suddenly had a case of the no-shows. Instead his roommate is Derek, an introverted ‘slayer’ who is doing his level best to get out of his shell this year. Through Derek, Adam (and us) gets acquainted with the tech elements of the city. It has a strong mmo kind of vibe, with upgrades that are functional or just flat out aesthetic. Some of these cosmetics help with quests, which is the equivalent of a help wanted ad for gig work – like trapping a 3ft rat. Excited to get enhancements of his own, Adam, soon discovers that he’s like the 1 in a million who can’t get his DNA modified.
At this point, beyond what I’ve already said, I haven’t got a solid grasp what the characters are about, but strongly suspect that a power fantasy will play out.
Overall, an interesting premise with a rich world that will no doubt grow richer with every chapter.

    Overall
An interesting cocktail - sci-fi, academy, urban fantasy, zombie apocalypse, special powers... and maybe a lot more :)
    Style
In general, the story is dynamic and intriguing. I particularly like its gradual plot development и careful immersion of the reader into the Lore.
    Story
A hidden high-tech city with its special inhabitants - on the verge of zombie apocalypse. What else to say?
I like how sci-fi and fantasy mix in this story. At first, it looks like everything here is explained by science - magical races as a result of biotechnology, AI supports information connectivity, and a  phone, as one of the characters says, is necessary not only for social life, but for life in general. And then the story reveals a "second bottom". Is everything here really explicable only by science? Seems, it's more complicated.
    Grammar
It is just good. We can see that the author was serious about proofreading and cleaning the text, it's pleasant to read.
    Character
It's nicely done, how the multiple characters are gradually revealed, mostly in their interaction, and how it is woven into the plot. And, yes, although the cast is plenty, in the end there is a unifying center - Adam. This gives integrity to the work.
I also like the intrigue with the emphatically "bland" main character. Would actually anyone believe that? I wouldn't. Moreover, his parents' names are even Power and Truman! Of course, you begin to anticipate - and, indeed, over time you notice hints - that he is not so ordinary.
The result: an intriguing, dynamic, balanced, and overall interesting story with reach world.

I absolutely love this story! It's an original blend of cyberpunky sci-fi and urban fantasy following a five person band as they manifest supernatural abilities (excepting one poor bugger) just as the uber-zombie apocalypse looms.
Story - like I said above, this felt highly original. The setting, blend of cyberpunk and fantasy vibes and events that seem wierd and confronting to people who are already used to, what we as the reader would consider wierd and unusual, all combines to create a wonderfully engaging story.
Style - the style is solid and consistent. The action and blocking is clear and detailed, and dialogue even among large groups of people is similarly clear. Some chapters at the start did feel a bit belt fed, but that was mostly just to keep the plot moving along quickly.
Grammar - no issues I saw, 5 stars.
Character - there's quite a large cast from fairly early on in the piece but they all feel distinct. The standout at the moment is definitely Derek, who comes across with a very strong and well defined character, but the other characterisation has also been given a solid foundation to build upon.
All in all, this is a promising, fresh story for anyone who enjoys cyberpunk aesthetics or urban fantasy. I've favourited and followed and I'd highly encourage everyone to do the same!

Step into Domina City. A city that is just a bit different from others. Fans of Cyberpunk will find enjoyment in a city filled with modded humans. Instead of high tech scifi, you get a fun mix of demons, angels, vampires, and beastkin. Honestly, this story paints an interesting take on modded individuals. The story is polished and sends the reader into a world that keeps you immersed.
Style: It is written in that more classic third person perspective. The paragraphs read cleanly, and the different PoVs help add interesting narrative. So far, all the different perspectives have been connected. And instead of jarring the reader, it just leaves you knowing more and ready for the next chapter.
Story: The world is interesting. Take on a modern setting. The story gives you that low-fantasy setting that scratches the itch for magic like beings in the real world. With the premise of bio-mods, it helps paint a realistic yet fantastical city. The pacing is perfect, and it never feels like I'm rushing to one part of the story to the next.
Grammar: 5/5. There are literally no complaints to be had. The author has made sure that what you read is something that's edited and clean.
Character: The story is still in the early phase of things. With that said, every character feels real. They all have their own unique personality and they never feel like a cardboard cutout caricature of a person.
As more of the world gets explained, and our main characters get into increasingly action filled situations, you'll be left waiting for the notification of a new chapter.

Overall: The opening paragraph can say a lot about the story and the author’s style, and this story’s opening was just the right amount of relatable, comedic references to careers, education, and dystopian/ life-controlling shows that it already sets a fantastic tone and direction. Reading further, I stumbled upon something that I consider is a must-have when writing mega-city, cyberpunk culture. And this is futuristic vampires. Well-written vampires too; bravo on you, sir. Well done! 5/5.
Characters: A character needs to be relatable. There needs to be an inner-thought process, realistic reactions- a way in which the reader connects with the protagonist through a stable medium that relays the emotions, the struggle, the drama, the love, the loss, the impact! We have this here. And it’s done extraordinarily well, whether through the dialogue or the character’s interacting with this magnificently life-like, dark world. 5/5!
Style: What we have here is a third person perspective- a stylistically damn good variation on a predominantly common theme. The prose and sentence flow are marvelous, engaging, and thoughtful. And as someone who frequently writes PoV changes, I must give the proper respect and due this author deserves for clean switches that positively add to the reader’s experience. 5/5!
Story: It is not easy to create an original, thought-provoking story set in a dystopic future setting that’s been done hundreds of times. Yet somehow, I just found a Webnovel, of all things, that hammered the nail on the head. CD Project Red should hire this author for their writing team. And I sincerely mean that. Well done! 5/5.
Grammar: If there were any mistakes, I was too enthralled with the story to notice. And since everything flowed nicely, and nothing stuck out at me, this is an automatic for full marks. 5/5.

Domina City wants to show its readers a lot and for that, of course, it needs a lot of build-up, which in this case fits well into the plot.
The writing style is short, to the point, and clear - glossed over with little comparisons in some corners. Very fitting for a story like this, where everything somehow feels a bit like the gutters of New York. What can throw one off every now and then, however, are the character names. There are often passages where every sentence starts with a character name and this makes the delivery sometimes stiff and lifeless.
The story itself binds one quickly with its charm. As you would hardly expect otherwise with this title, the setting is rather gloomy and everything has a certain seriousness. In addition, there is a massive amount of build-up that weaves itself into the story, although it clearly falls short in places. A lot of things are only touched on because they have no real relevance in the scenes, but would have been a help in some corners to suck you deeper into the setting. That being said, you can tell that the author has put thought into each "race" and also how everyone can get these changes.
The love put into the city is also put into almost every character. You have variety brought in, which is fun. You can quickly bond with most of them and everyone has their own story hidden somewhere. The only one who seems like a blank, tedious page in this sense is Adam.  He's not driven by anything and even though the town seems complete madness and he's been told it's dangerous, he doesn't even think about just leaving - as any normal person would consider doing at least once. There is no way to connect with him. Adam just comes across as boring in the midst of it all, a bit like an outsider who can just be ignored between all the others.
All in all, it can be said that there is a good story with a lot of potential and an exciting cast waiting here that deserves its readers.

While I do find the premise of this interesting there is just too much going on at once in such a short time, I can barely keep up with some of it. As another reviewer said it feels forced together. The characters as well I personally can't really bring myself to care about. I will still be reading to see if my issue is fixed with more chapters but the beginning at least is too much.
