Alvis Volpe is a young detective with a hidden gift stationed at Hearthome City. After his initial fame from being the youngest detective on the force fades, he's stuck living a mundane life with the slight enjoyment of solving cases every so often keeping him going. Alvis has disassociated himself from other people as he was born different from most. He was gifted with the rare ability to understand pokemon. Because of the disparity on how he sees the world compared to others, he doesn't see the value in connecting with people. That is until he's put on a case that alters him forever.
