Deviant's Masquerade: Hacking Reality (A teenage Mad Scientist's story.)
Community Rating
Description
In a world filled with super powered Deviants, portals to other dimensions, and cannibal-ghost zombies, Maya Williams is a smart girl. Smart enough to hack reality itself.
Of course being a mad scientist did come with a few... flaws... But what teenager didn't have issues? Be it family, romance -a lack there of-, or the occasional bout of megalomania and thoughts of world domination.
Regardless! No amount of teenage drama or mental instability was going to stop her from becoming a hero!
Just as soon as she could get the voices in her head to quit bickering anyway.

Please Note: This is a version of a forum quest I run following a teenage Mad Scientest with heroic tendencies in the same city/setting as my other stories the Huntsman's Quest and Get Ink'd. Meaning that while a majority of the plot is made up by me, the major choices as well as what each chapter is about are usually made by the actual readers in forum votes.
Additionally, given how this is essentially a story version of a Tabletop game there is also a background RPG system that while the characters aren't necessarily aware of, the readers can see these stats to know how each chosen 'Action' effects their character's development.

- NorthernWardenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a really fun story about a teenage mad scientist with voices in her head (the readers giving sujestions). The voices are hilarios and really captures the feeling when seeing a charector in a book making choices. Well worth reading for a fun time with great characters! The pacing is great! This is a really fun web novel to read.
- ShadoCat2Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I just noticed that I've forgotten to review this story. Time to make up for that.
I rate based on how much fun I have reading a story.
I like all of the characters in this story (except, maybe Decker, still don't know about him).
The MC is one of those manic kids that remind you why some animals will eat their one young.
She doesn't appear to have any friends outside of her family but that's OK as she starts making friends (sometimes quite literally).
She's a middle child (of five) and is a "Super" level mad scientist just starting out. Her siblings each have their own personalities and are good people, raised by good parents. The siblings have interests that match other archetypes in this world but, at this time, don't appear to have actual powers. So the MC can't relate to them on that level.
Even the police met in the story are, as most cops actually are, good people doing their best to help (in a world where some threats are way above their pay grade).
Of Athicern's three main stories, I think that I like this one the best; mostly because it focuses on good people being good.
It is also easy to read to another person. I am currently reading this to my gf (and she's reading a Dreden story to me). - Alexander BivensRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is an interesting story that reads well and only has a few grammar issues here and there that i could spot. Just as an fwi, this story is a bit heavy on the slice-of-life. The main character does a lot of inventing, but doesn't actually spend a lot of time using those inventions. I stopped reading at chapter 45, and this far into the story, the main character has only engaged in actual combat once. If you came here looking for an action-filled romp, you are not going to find one here.
- ShadowKnight6992Royal Road★★★ 3.0Ya no it really isn't literally the tag for LITRPG says linear progression such as levels are MAIN THEMSES OF THE STORY and no it is not doesn't have a screen or a pop up or anything related to levels especially compared to other super hero stuff or the magical girl novel so false advertising but on to reviews
the plot is......interesting and barely existent, it's a very slow and tedious build up for the Mc's powers but overall it's nice but that's it it's just the first chapter kidnapping and never visit it again and it just moved on to developing her powers for...40 chapters? So slowwwww
the side characters are really well written and put together. except most of them are stereotypical side characters...with the main side character friend is a secret rich family magical martial artist heir, or the jock that's the harasser and the big bad evil guy at school or the other girl that's constantly getting picked on to make the Mc look like a hero 24/7 but besides most of the main side characters the other ones are good
the MC well she's interesting because her power doesn't make her Einstein it makes her have sparks of inspiration to make things so she'll be building a regular hikers backpack and inspiration will kick in and BAMN she now has a jetpack that acts like a back of holding.
My annoyance with this novel is the lack of LITRPG stuff like there is no main stuff for it.
also the main annoying thing is I really hate the powers like okay you become a super scientist and can make god killers in a junkyard why isn't the government abducting you and making spaceships or making mini antimatter reactors and building orbiting antimatter lasers to kill any hell abominations or anything really. Like it's shown the scientists can break anything down given enough time even magic and can build "runes' or code to get around it so why don't you attach a bunch of codes and weapons on a satellite so it can see through spacial and cloaking magic and can kill pretty much anything an
