Description

Ray Maloney arrives in Shale City with no memory and few clues as to his identity. Guided by a mysterious figure, he sets up business and begins work as a private detective.

I was lucky enough to read this story in its entirety before it started getting published here on Royal Road. It is a future setting noire that keeps the 30s detective vibe and intersperses its world with objects from the present. The strange hodgepodge creates a beautiful world in which our Dick Tracyesque character can traverse. But who is he? He doesn't know, and it is a mystery that he is determined to find out even as he solves cases and faces down a powerful conspiracy lead by the city's most powerful criminal elements.
Expect supernatural elements, lots of long-legged ladies, a wonderful cast of sidekicks and villains, as well as a world full of both the very familiar, the once familiar, and the rather farfetched future. Think Cowboy Bepop, but more serious with angels and demons pulling the strings in the background.
I started this book with the author's assumption in his mind that it would be a trilogy. But there is so much room for extra here that I rather expect it could become a very long and amazing series. This is absolutely something I will be following for as long as it goes, and I quite selfishly hope that others will as well so that I can experience the series in its entirety!

I liked the supernatural elements, It added an interesting vibes without ruining the story.
There were a good fights that I enjoyed a little bit.
The cases were interesting and there was a nice plot twist.
Sidekicks and Villains were Very good ,no foolish acts or Cliche scenarios .
Angels & demons were mysterious but we get enough informations to still curious about them.
There are also another characters that faces the same thing mc faced but we only saw them for few times.
I liked the women in this book allot all of them had an important role in the story and There is diversity in their personalities that I liked very much.
This is absolutely amazing series, something I will definitely follow for as long as it goes.
I absolutely recommend you to read this if you like this type of stories.

I'm getting some "Dark City" vibes from this story. There's a kiss of it in the story, but particularly in the sci-fi noir aesthetic I must admit I'm a sucker for.
I think I'll come back to this and revise when the story proceeds and I have more to say. At present I'll content myself with "I like this story a lot and intend to keep reading."
