Been following descendants of a dead earth for around two years now, first on reddit, and now here given reddits changes to 3pa.
Wilst each book in the series is a slow burn, it's a fantastic world that has been crafted and the payoff is well worth it. Each chapter remains tense, as new problems come up  new solutions make their appearance. Betrayals, politics, space, good healthy dose of HFY, some HWTF makes for many hours of fantastic reading.

If you've explored the Science Fiction genre, you might be familiar with Humanity Fuck Yeah! stories. These tend to be a celebration of ourselves, where in space we are in some way smarter, stronger, or simply better than the other species. We are the center of our universe, and as though inately gifted we are the Apex of Life, coming out on top without fail, at least in the long term.
A Tinkers Damn is not that. The premise of the story and the introductory chapters set about to unequivicably establish that Humanity are the vagrant, hated, waste-of-space-and-breath gypsies of the galactic community. With no planet to call their own, the nomadic tribes of Man eke out a living in a particularly hostile universe.
Enough babble, time to break this down.
    Character
As of Chapter 21, we've met a variety of characters with their own motivations, history, personality and depth. They tend to be well rounded individuals that act and feel like people, rather than props. One of the things I find lacking in other stories on the platform is that many characters are static, they have a defining trait, idea, or relationship that tells us who they are, and that is all they are. In 'A Tinkers Damn', we've seen characters grow, characters become emotionaly affected by their situations in ways that reveal more about themselves, and we've watched as characters are developed and learn from the hardships they encounter.
    Grammer
In 21 Chapters, I've noticed one, let me repeat, one error. The author is able to manipulate language correctly to craft well thought out sentances, without falling into the trap of being overly complex. My reading experiance was not affected at all by the grammer of the work, and thats how I like it.
    Style
A Tinkers Damn is written from a character based first person perspective, following Maggie. HeWhoLooksSkyward maintains a consistent approach of teaching us about the world organically, without any obnoxious info dumps wedged into the narrative. Maggie is (rela

This is a phenomenal story to read.  Tons of fantastic characters that all act differently and the emotions that are conveyed through the written word... Exquisite.  Grammar is near perfect if not already perfect.
The books are broken up into ~50 chapters with each focusing on a particular member of the Human Race.  Some are more action oriented and others are more dialogue oriented, but there is plenty of both in each book and lots of character building as well.  Each character is completely different and all have their own needs, wants, and desires.
Due to there being so many characters, sometimes you'll have a book that doesn't quite fit your reading style.  That happened to me with the cyber human.  But, it was definitely readable and there's also the knowledge that the main character of that particular book will be done soon enough.
I cannot recommend this book enough.  If you like sci-fi and deep, gritty (but not cringy) action and dialogue, then this is definitely for you.  There's a little bit of a break between books, which is more than appropriate, and releases are quick with it coming out 2-3 times a week.  Thank you HeWhoLooksSkyward for these great novels.
    Cheers!

    (as of chapter 33)
Earth was destroyed and the few human survivors have been living the lives of unwanted pariahs for the last 200 years. They've been barely scraping by either as abused and barely tolerated beggars on the planets of the powerful other species or as vagabonds in their few remaining outdated space ships. Basically like the gypsies in our world's history. Maggie is from the Tinker clan (engineers) and one of the older humans alive, but she has fallen on hard times like everyone else. While the other species crank up the hostility to get rid of the objectionable human scum befouling their worlds, Maggie's life is turned around when she finds a lost and starving human child and is drawn out of her self-imposed isolation back into the larger events. Will the universe finally stop shitting on the humans and let them find a place of their own? It all hinges on Maggie and her unique past.
Style/Story/Grammar/Characters: The story is told in third-person narrative style, following Maggie's perspective. The author shows great skill in world building (more like universe building), each alien species is vastly different from the others and the lore is presented in an unforced way. His word choice is very good and the descriptions show a good eye for details. The flow of the narrative feels natural but the story has an almost restless pacing, one setback is following right after the other with barely a breather in between. Grammar and spelling are excellent. The MC is shown as a person with lots of life experience, somebody who always scraped by through all the hardship. She's become weary of life but still doesn't give up. We can follow her thought processes easily, as they are well-founded in what we learned of her before. The ward she adopts makes for a believable example of an abuse victim slowly opening up to somebody caring. The other humans round out the picture of life-like characters, they show a wide range of personalities with diverse motivations. All

I have read this author's previous novel and it was wonderful.
Right now there is not a lot of chapters in this new adventure but I trust him. Please, keep working as hard.
I will update my review in a couple of chapters.

Absolutely phenomenal series. HeWhoLooksSkyward skill for creating a convincing and realistic yet fantasticly fictional galaxy, along with his overall story crafting prowess makes him a phenomenal writer of science fiction.
Each book is from a different character's perspective, all of whom are met in the first book, and over the progress of time, each of them will grow and change, their own arcs shaping their future selves.
Having read the entire series, I can safely say (and it was never doubted) that the end was a satisfying ending.

HeWhoLooksSkyward is an Awesome writer and this 3rd story of his is reading really really very good. The characters are awesome. The story is dark with definite underpinning of light. I believe this is gonna be one heckuva ride. This story is a slow build up of whup azz, It will make you cry, laugh, hope, despair and a whole lot more.
    BRAVO!

275 chapters in and I want more even as six books have been dropped and another teasingly is on its way to us.
This is such a well written story that grabs you by the seat of your pants or whatever you are wearing. The author seems to be able to read minds knowing just what the reader wants next or maybe a few chapters more...and he does it without a bunch of polls. Not once do I recall him asking for plot points to help him out.
One of the best authors on RR, yet not garnering the respect he deserves.

I listened to this whole story on YouTube while at work really liked it for the most part was a great way to pass the time.  Like some characters hated others, which means some will feel the opposite of me so good writing. the whole story was very in-depth and detailed. I would definitely recommend. just personally really disliked the ending.

It's a good story and well written, but the start is deadly slow with the plot only kicking off fifteen or twenty chapters in. Total "slow burn" novel with a lot of promise however.
Once the plot kicks off it is hard scifi at it's best spaceships, battles, weird aliens, weirder humans, the whole "space opera" thing basically. It's hard to judge when the story isn't done but I think pacing is really the only issue.
I look forward to seeing where this one is going.
