  The writing and plot itself follows the Descendants logic, this is ultimately a fanfic set in the setting and not original (as of this review it has the original tag). The writing, the characters and the antics are all about par for the course without any singing numbers. If you are not a fan of Descendants this might be difficult to get through - particularly the worldbuilding makes absolutely no sense, but that is faithful to the original.
  The whole lost Auradonian queen has an arc that follows in the style Descendants itself, with villain cameos, awkward school tests and a plot that just resolves itself because it has to. Briar as a character is marginally more developed than the usual stock. The prose is simplistic and some minor grammar issues are present - including awkward wordings, but nothing glaring. One thing I did not like was the constant POV shifts which are called out, or the links off RR to focus on the outfits of the characters, and the links to youtube for music. Sorry, but I am not clicking those.
  The story works as a Descendants fanfic with an original story, but beyond that the interest in this may be limited because it follows all the campy tropes of the original - for better or worse. That being said, if you like Descendants this is a story worth a read.
