Death Protean

Death Protean follows Renatus Maddox, a cynical and morally complex young man from the poverty-stricken lower echelons of a dystopian world divided by power and potent abilities. After experiencing a sudden and violent death, Ren awakens to discover he possesses an incredibly rare and adaptive potent known as the Death Protean—a power allowing him to return from death, each resurrection fundamentally changing his body and soul.

Haunted by his past, burdened by over a thousand restless souls who rely on him to reach peace, and faced with family bonds strained to the breaking point, Ren must navigate a fractured society ruled by heroes, villains, and those caught helplessly between. With unlikely allies—including mysterious soul guides and a misfit crew of companions—Ren struggles to uncover the truth behind his potent and identity, all while confronting questions about justice, morality, and what it truly means to be human.

As Ren descends deeper into the chaos and corruption of the echelons, he realizes the line between hero and villain is dangerously thin, and sometimes the greatest battles are fought within oneself.
