- SkarabraeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The style is very good. The author has a unique way of writing that's able to convey the tone of the story very well. The author also makes great word choices that help out with the story a lot. Additionally, the literary device of imagery is used very well.
Story: The story is good. It is paced at exactly the rate it needs to be paced at, and it develops at the pace it needs to too. The worldbuilding is also great. The author is able to convey a sci fi world with a certain darkness to it that has a deep past very well. The story itself is focused on the interactions between the two central characters and their journeys together. And I can safely say that their journeys are very entertaining as well as their interactions, both with each other and other characters.
Grammar: Any grammatical errors have either been corrected or are too minor to be noticeable to most people.
Character: The characters are great. In particular, the two focus characters are very good. One is a man with a somewhat shady past who has a very practical mindset. The other is an AI that is in his ship and has been programmed to be somewhat more morally good but less practical. They are both incredible characters who drive the story forward very well.
Overall, I would recommend this story. - TraydrRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writing is great, there aren't any flaws that stand out. Nothing that would break immersion, that's for sure. The story has only just started, but It's reeled me in. Characters already have a lot of personality to them.
So far, the sci-fi's been very interesting. The litRPG elements haven't shown up much yet, but those that have, have been unobtrusive.
Looking forward to how the author develops this story further! If their other story is any indication, there will be great things in the future. - V.J.DaranRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you like RPG and you like Space, this book is for you. If you like RPG, space, AI, and you like MC whose a former gangster, then this book is definitely for you.
Several chapters in, I think it is very well written with little to no grammar and spelling mistakes to speak of, the characters described very well and made to be very relatable, and overall just a very well written and intriguing story. The action also starts picking up quite quickly, so even the slightly more impatient readers can get to the good stuff pretty quickly.
For those who are into this genre, this book is going to be a gem and you should definitely check it out. - ChaotixJokerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a space style RPG story, this is your thing. Our protagonists are Jon, a former gang member and smuggler, and Juliette, an artificial intelligence from the old federation, where both embark on a great adventure in order to save the sector. What makes the story entertaining are its characters and the creation of the world, which the author has been able to implement very well. The story has potential, it just started recently but we can already see how extensive the galaxy in which it takes place will become. So don't lose any more and join us on this adventure.
- Hungry GodRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Personally I think the story is great.
That is if you've never played starsector before. This story is heavily influenced by starsector and some of its mods, and I would even say it is more of a fanfiction than an original story.
That said, the_tripoint does a good job fleshing out the characters and making the world feel more lived. To the average reader, this is a good thing. To me, it just makes me want to play starsector rather than read the story. It's like a nagging voice in the back of my head, the longer I read, the more I need to play starsector.
If I'm being honest, I wish tripoint took more creative liberties with the story and it's background, but so I've heard that happens later and I'm still in the early parts.
Update: I spent the last few days playing starsector. I read a bit more chapters and found the combat scenes really well done, albeit simple. I really wish there was a little more emphasis on positioning such as a smaller ship hugging another ships rear to attack the engines or what not. Then again Mc is like level 1, but I hope the battles become more strategic. - Hampster of HappinessRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0a good story of redemption and struggle in a future devoid of hope.
slow in the beginning with an intricate plot. very weighty plot development that will suck you in to a world of saviours and criminals can a former career criminal turn over a new leaf for the Saviour of the sector or will he taint the white knight.
Either way the character are well developed and interesting with a real sense of life and genuineness. - DeikonRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I would have given it four stars however...
It's misleading. This doesn't really have any application to the litrpg genre.
Also the storyline's good but some of the characterization and history of the NPCs in my opinion needs to be fleshed out a little more and presented with more depth.
I can get into a storyline without litrpg, but if you put it in the header and I enjoy system stories and such, don't make it the littlest part of the story. It may be a slow burn but for me it's too slow.
The system isn't all the story at all, but you're dropping hints without connecting anything really and it makes my interest wane.
Thank you. This story is for other people but not for me.
