To the author, thank you for sharing the story.
It is a well-written story albeit still in its infancy. The grammar was clear and fluent.
The characters are few but consistent. The MC in particular is rather well portrayed.
I am quite fond of the way this ficition is based on trading and pursuing a very different kind of dao that you usually see in cultivation stories.
I certainly hope to read more and will remain around to check on the future updates :)

Enjoy the main characters objections to some of crazy parts of cultivation world. Interested to see where this goes from here.
how long until he finds a way to enforce a contract using cultivation. Looking forward to him making enemy cough up blood from lost money.
Would honestly recommend anything written by this author.

In a fantastical world, a merchant struggles to make money aided by an animal that is also a girl. Except this girl is also an old master, and our protagonist is a transmigrated college student focused on making money.
The story is done well so far, a good premise and better execution within that premise. Looking forward to more!

It's not the only one, one of my other favorite cultivator stories has a focus around a different path as well. A Dao Path of being a merchant is amusing on the face of it, and there is some humor to it, but it's also just very well done as a serious story.
Updated to a full 5-star, and also hoping the author returns soon, it's been a month. :(

I have enjoyed this. An over-focus on martial aspects often overshadows culture. It pleases me to find written word that focuses on the growth of ones Dao and narrative. As progression occurs so does the depth an author must affix the foundation of the world they are building. It is especially imperative to do so when contrasting against modern perspectives. This novel does this well.

In Dao of the Deal, JacobK gives us a peaceful, mostly feel good cultivation story, not unlike Beware of Chicken.  This is in no way a retread of Beware of Chicken however, as Muchen (the MC) is a businessman rather than a farmer, with everything that entails.  A different story, but the same main conceit, dealing with the dog eat dog world of xianxia in a morally upright way that seeks primarily to help others rather than to hurt or take advantage of them.  I hope to see a future where Beware of Chicken and Dao of the Deal are considered classics in an acknowledged and popular sub-genre.

I have flamed many, many stories, but even I have to admit that "Dao of the Deal" is pretty damn good.
The story centers around a dude who suddenly transmigrates into a typical martial arts world. Here, MC faces the typical path to immortality, cultivation. However, the unique twist that the author sets upon MC is his natural affinity towards the business world. MC is shown to be pragmatic, decisive, and with a rather good head placed on his body.
There are no apparent flaws throughout the story. Chapter release times are consistent, dialogue is consistent, and story development is consistent. The story has not faced the all too common fall-off after the original 20 or so chapters.

A character who does things differently, a very fun read about the power of deals!
Pretty good pace and its nice for royal road
Maybe bring more females who are not so perfect in the story and I felt like animals maybe deserve some love pov-wise I thought, but had fun and want more so you might too!

I find the worldbuilding to be interesting, and I really like the identity of the MC as a merchant.
however I believe the introduction of the turtle/female cultivator character so early on, has two major negative effects on the story:
The existence of such a powerful character at the side of the MC from the very beginning, neutralizes the vast majority of tension and danger of being a lone trader on the road in a world full of powerful beings and treacherous politics. Honestly, it reads like a MC who has a cheat. even though in chapter 1, the writer emphasizes that the MC has no cheat power or system, yet this extremely advanced cultivator helps the MC (when it matters) and inexplicably, spends significant time and effort teaching the MC cultivation and martial arts. I feel like there is so much wasted potential; I would like to have seen the MC having to deal with danger, and having to be extremely careful and calculating (as stated by the author “the MC takes calculated risks”) the absence of tension = the absence of excitement IMO.
It trivializes so much of the what the MC does early on in the story. Like when he completes a trade and earns silver, it should be a rewarding moment for both the reader and the MC, but when compared to the powerful turtle/female cultivator who is right next to him… his efforts seem trivial. Silver? Not even spirit stones? This dynamic creates the impression that the story hasn’t really started yet, like we’re in the prologue. But the story up until this point, is only 70ish chapters, and I’m in chapter 11.

This was an interesting serial of reincarnation cultivation meets spice and wolf, with some sect building thrown in.  Wish the author had managed to keep the story alive but at this time appears to have been dropped.  I cannot recommend it for that reason alone and will revise this review if it ever gets picked up again.
