- Scholar_GirogiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Cyber Space begins with a solid foundation. It's gritty, tense and a fine example of a cyberpunk story. Also, cars. Beautiful stuff; let me explain.
Style: Well-done and immersive. The prose is serviceable, and while there are some choices of words that are average, there was nothing that took me out of the reading experience. Each scene is crafted with passion, and I was easily hooked. The car scenes and actions are exhilarating and make you feel the speed and rush of adrenaline.
Story: A typical but exemplary cyberpunk setting. It is dark, gritty, and has all the elements that make it work. There isn't much to say, as the story is woven wonderfully with the characters.
Grammar: There are a number of capitalization errors, a few missing punctuation marks, or incorrect use of punctuation. Apart from that, I haven't seen any glaring errors within the sentence structure. I never fault the author for such errors since it's easy to take it through Grammarly and fix them.
Character: A highlight of the story. The characters, or shall I say the crew, is well made. The MC Jack has a tight and realistic relationship with his peers, Batou, Revy, Alex and Jun. They all have diverse personalities and make for a fun dynamic. I found myself enjoying how they interact with one another and the world itself. Characters are the cement of a story, and the author has created strong characters with room to grow.
Overall, a lovely story. Great characters, fun and pulling. I implore any prospective readers to give this one a try. - KidBuuRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Give it a try.
I am surprised at how well written and done this story actually is. Not to insult the author or anything but when going through novels on this site and many others, quality isn't something I am expecting.
The writing is great. You will have no issue reading this story. There are some occassional minor mistakes but nothing that will interupt the flow of your reading.
The locations, actions, and surroundings are all described very well. The author does a wonderful job describing his view of the story.
Onto the story itself. Think of a cyberpunk setting, with a mercenary crew, in the middle of an international space race. Leave that like that to avoid spoilers. Now perhaps cyberpunk isn't exactly your style. I know its not mine. I did not have any issue understanding what was happening in the world. Be it robotic arms, hacking, etc etc.
The only main issues with the story is length and character development.
Starting with length I don't mean the standard "There is a problem since there is no next chapter." The issue with length is that the story moves along fast. It moves along fast enough that other things cannot be shown. Think of it as if you are playing a game and you just run the main quest line. You ignore everything else in the game. That is what I mean by there is an issue with length.
As mentioned above because of the lack of length, character development hardly happens. Well, it does happen in some cases just extremely fast. The crew is a likable group but because of the length we do not see that much of their backgrounds. Without knowing where they were, we cannot see how far their character has developed. How they have changed.
To end this I will just say it is an enjoyable read. This combined with a completed book 1 of 25 chapters, so what are you waiting for? Go read it.
