- AucusesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Considering the wide variety of books I have been reading recently I was pleasantly surprised to find this book. It has quite some slow moments that bring a lot of flavors and a great overall build of the world. I like the main theme, the main lead overall, and the progression. Surprisingly, I really enjoy it. If only we could get faster updates ah...
- GodSlayer123Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nice story, basic plot but well written. This is not a complex story MC doesn't have 5 different plots spinning at once and neither does anyone else, only big plot is the big band's, at least so far. Read for a fun time sure in some places the plot starts making less sense but there are few of them and the rest of the story is pretty good. In conclusion read this for a fun time.
- xcaresRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fun to read so far (chap 100).
The main character is a good person. An upright straight shooter.
World building is adequate with enough complexity to make it seem fleshed out and without becoming a confusing mess
The author seems to find a lot of flaws with his own work. I don't care. This is a good novel so far. - FlamingFalconRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Uses inspiration taken from chinese xianhuan novels. To create a simple yet fun novel, that has enjoyable pacing and a rather wide world and potential mysteries to explore. Making it appear this novel has a solid potential to go far.
Things to expect - MC on the more powerful end, with a few “cheat like abilities” -evolution paths and an “elderly spirit” type companion. But so far they have been used rather well, and if anything allow the story to explore more of the world and what is within it than constant strife.
I’ll leave it there for now, because it’s still early doors for this novel. But I certainly intend to keep reading this and seeing where it will go. Give it a try if you enjoy the xianxia/rift dungeon style stories, you probably won’t be disappointed. :-). - GomkeyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This book is pretty good. It is not a master piece so far but it is pretty entertaining. I like the setting but some of the narration seems a bit awkward. It seems like a run of the mill dungeon fantasy stories but I am a sucker for those types.
- HippioScipioRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Plot: A story about a boy rising from nothing to overwhelming power thanks to a reasonably awesome gift and sheer determination. Oh yeah, and nobles and rich people suck.
Yet, the well-trodden nature of the storyline does not detract from the story's quality which is nearly always pleasant to read so far as I've read. The story blends cultivation elements and dungeon fantasy interestingly, and while not original, the story is engaging regardless.
The main character is likeable enough and the scenes with his family are endearing and his relationships feel human.
As a result of this and more, I'd say this is a pretty cool story. - NickKiddRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a cultivation tale, which unfortunately I know very little about. So I'll stick to what I know. Your opening is powerful. Starting with a massive battle and a reoccurring nightmare is a great strategy. Then, an adventure into the rift that ultimately leads to trouble is an excellent inciting incident. Your grammar is great considering English isn't your first language. In fact, it was very easy to read. It's clear you are passionate about this story and have a lot to tell.
My suggestion would be that you don't need to explain everything to your readers in the beginning. Spread out the information and let it be a mystery. The first few chapters before entering the rift contain a lot of exposition. We don't need to understand everything about seeds and magic from the beginning. Spread it out and let it surprise your readers.
A great example is the encounter with the Xunarian. Before the fight starts we get a full description of the beast and what it is capable of. It takes the tension away. Leave its abilities a mystery until the beast uses them. A little show don't tell could go a long way.
Keep it up and best of luck! You have a wonderful story! - OcerkinRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story is an enjoyable one, solid power progression for a power fantasy feeling, never so op he face rolls everything but strong enough to feel like he has a leg up. it has a good story flow and doesnt feel to fast or to slow.
It does have some grammar issues, but the author seems to actively accept help there, which is wonderful to see! i have high hopes for this story and will be sticking around with anticipation for every new chapter! - danlern2Royal Road★ 1.0I'm not going to say it's the worst novel ever, but I won't sugar coat my annoyance. It fits every checklist for a bad novel.
Inorganic exposition? ✅
Unoriginal world building? ✅
Amateurish prose and story structure? ✅
They say you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but 3 chapters should be enough right? Maybe if it didn't jump headfirst into obvious novel pitfalls, I could give it a more honest try, but it did so I won't.
I told myself to stop reading cultivation novels, because the vast majority are like this, and the rest have problematic cliches, but I'm a sucker. I've found 1 or 2 decent ones, and I always have hope I'll find another.
