- TrueCipresRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't know what I excepted going into this; actually some form of bashing of characters and stomping of the story probably, but what I got was a surprisingly nuanced take on everything that clearly shows a deep knowledge and enjoyment of the original materials used. The story always manages to drive back to canon, partially, with new explanations that, to me, make sense in character, and the changes are also reasonable and done well. Some timeline changes were also applied, for the better in this case, and we end up (obviously, if you read Berserk) with a Swordsman Rudeus with a rather different personality.
At this point I am really hopping to see what the author has in store for us in the future, as more and more the story is drifting apart from canon with each and every little change. Totally recommended for fans of either work.
I originally tried it out because I loved Berserk (I use past tense because, while I don't have anything agaisnt Mori, he is not Miura) and I loved Mushoku, I read it back when the WN was coming out and read it again with the published version. So I know both materials well enough and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also think you don't NEED to know much about either, though, probably less about Mushoku than Berserk, since most things about Mushoku will be shown and explained but Guts comes into the story right at the end of the last chapter Miura made before he went to Mangaka Heaven. That said, it's not needed AT ALL, to enjoy it. You can just imagine a Veteran swordsman from a Grim Dark going to a high fantasy light novel and enjoy it for that (not that Mushoku is always sunshine and roses)

Time to justify the advanced review:
Grammar: Minimal mistakes and typos, seriously this is above and beyond many original fictions that go on to be published with some editing, and that's crazy for a Fan Fic; some of the most popular FF in RR have way worst, so I am giving it a well deserved 5.
Style: I absolutely love how well the style matches M - thedappersquidRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Basically no grammatical errors which is crazy for a fanfic. The plot is largely similar to the original series though there are obviously changes in the ways characters interact. Really glad he punched Paul I hate that fucker. Great story, great writing. Please don't drop this it's too good.
