I am not sure that this is really a philosophical tale because there is no captivating aspect and it doesn't have a hidden or moral aspect in the vein of Aesop or fairy tales. It comes right out and gives you what it wants you to think about after briefing describing the 'cog' in this case. It was a try, but there is no subtly in it.

For starters, it tries too hard to be a deep, thought provoking story, and the Author's inexperience in writing clearly shows, together with some grammar issues that, while not horrible, are distracting.
The story is not bad per se, but it is predictable and brings nothing new, and the author clearly wanted to write a short master piece and overstreched themselves.
However, the story is not bad in and of itself, and with some clean up and more work making it more relatable to the average viewer, defining more the title character, in other words, taking the same premise and remaking it with more care, effort and experience could easily make it much better, though the same can be said of just about any story.
The point is, please don't give up Lord Reader. Keep going. You may write subpar fiction, but with effort and time, someday it will become decent, then good, and then amazing fiction.
