- HippioScipioRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As other reviewers have said, this work is to the point, whilst also not being barebones. Its story is streamlined and its characters are human-like, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading each chapter.
The author is clearly confident in their abilities, and this makes reading their work enjoyable as everything feels unique and interesting. This confidence is displayed by the fact that the author manages to find strange uses for even weirder powers, a good sign for things to come as more and more characters get introduced.
Overall, I'd say its a very cool story. - MeltedCrayonsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read this end to end twice now. And I'll probably binge it again sometime. The characters in this story are all fresh and well-fleshed out with super powers that are very naturally limited by physical capacities and the like, and, therefore, they are interesting. The style is engaging, simple, with constant movement and action sequences that are all paced very evenly. The grammar is about as flawless as I've seen on this site, The story is straightforward and balanced, but it grips you and keeps pulling you back in, and the world-building, especially for such a short fiction, is rich and intriguing. As the author mentions in the story summary, this story is a teaser for a bigger world (that I am very much interested to see more of).
Because this is a short story, I don't want to drop too many spoilers by summing too much up. The narrative is voiced by a prison convict named Oran who is recruited out of prison to join a small task force that hunts terrorists. He's an imperfect character, and he was in prison for good reasons, but he's also so undeniably human and relatable. There's some great commentary through the exploration of his character about addictions that's very compassionate and thought-provoking.
10/10-- would recommend. - TurdchomperRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0You tired of the MC running around and smashing his/her enemys? Well definitely check out "Codename: Ghost".
For example, our Main lead here has a unique power (SPOILER)But who am I to talk about this beautiful novel in detail when nobody but the Author can do a better job? Check it out already!
Love yall RR readers! Peace. - pumpkinnutellaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have followed the author for a while now, and I'm always impressed with her characterization! We're only one chapter in, and I already feel like the main character is developing a strong "voice". I'm interested in learning more about his motives.
There are many stories revolving around super-powers, but this one has intrigued me. The MC's power is creative, and as he is coming across as a potential antagonist (being recruited from prison), I wonder if he's going to continue down that path or if he'll have a redemption arc. We'll have to see.
Trish, I eagerly await your upcoming collaberation in this world! - Happy Bookworm Coffee AddictRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This novel style is engaging and straightforward, fully empowering the story.
And the story itself: it's simple and brutally effective. A convicted pervert got a second chance at life working for a special secret police of powers. To be noted that this story is short, more like a teaser (come on, even a short story need proper closure!) for the real book which is due for 2024.
Nothing to say about the grammar, which is best case scenario.
And finally, the main appeal of this short novella: its main character. Of all things, it's hard to make a general audience feeling any sort of empathy for a convicted pervert. But the story did a good job at turning the main character crimes into some sort of tragic backstory, nature versus nurture style.
On the other hand, it's a good thing that the novella is short because its main character is a piece of work, on the fence rather than over it but is clearly not someone you would want to allow to walk the streets freely.
In conclusion: interesting characters, interesting powers, average and rather empty world-building where powers are rare but generally well-known, and a style that make you want to read more. All in all, a teaser doing its job.
