- Shadow1999Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Hello there, I'm Shadow1999. I hope this review reaches you. And I hope that it helps you get better as you go along.
Now to get it out of the way, the gammer, it is very distracting at times. I understand that you've tried to get better which is why I'm not going to go too far into it. The story itself? Pretty damn nice, I'd defiantly say it's worth a read for anyone who likes a good mystery and suspense.
The main character Nori Kibe may feel a lot like Koji from Classroom of the Elite, but by the later endgame of V1 that just isn't the case anymore. The cast is very enjoyable so far, can't wait to finish reading through V2 and V3. Keep up the good work, I hope this series blooms into a classic.
I also want to note, that this shit is pretty gruesome and dark, like I wasn't expecting half of the things that happened, to happen. Might be because I'm not used to this yet. However, I'm glad for this great change of pace, it makes the story feel like its really doing its own, while also paying some nice homage to other shows and even books. - jumpfire05Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Coded Law is by far one of my most favorite works from Kerry, His other works usually consist of Eldritch horror, and complex lore that can go deep, Coded law is the opposite, It's the simplicity that keeps the work going while also including its own 'complex', if you can call it that, lore. Coded law is refreshing in the way that its still like those thrilling moments you'd get in Alphatale and MOS, some of Kerry's other works, but with a hint of reality. You could say "Oh yeah, It may be something unnatural like huge IQ, but its still our world." Like Death Note, Its the thrill of having the mystery being solved, having the Big bad, come close to the good guy only for their distance to be infinite. There ls a realistic approach to the world and sometimes that's what makes something so good, the simplicity of a story.
The style of the writing is great, most likely one of my favorite styles to date as its easy to keep track of where you are instead of losing your spot in the words.
The Story is amazing so far. I don't think I was ever pulled into a story like how Coded law pulled me in. So far it reminds of Death note. The battle of wits, how one can outsmart the other. which i have a feeling Kerry had taken BIG inspiration from. I mean, it isn't rocket science but still. The world feels as if it's dark, and only getting more so. Maybe not as dark as Alphatale but close enough to where its very realistic. The world feels as if its going into a spiral, Mr.Nakayama getting close, Kibe pulling a 180 and somehow planned ahead, a new challenger joins the game, another does too. Its in an endless spiral of who's intellengence and precognition is better. And the winner is clear so far.
For the Character score, I'll be focusing on two, Kibe and Mr. Nakayama. Kibe is an amazing character with deep mystery in his past. It isn't all explained of his history, but as you read you figure out the mystery behind that. I think that's the beauty of Kerry's work, the mystery is there - vs678Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Well...a work extremely and extremely worthy, and deserves much more audience and interest among others, their advantages I can note an excellent plot, as well as a pleasant structure and writing style of the work itself. Yes, in addition, the characters really seem alive, on the positive side I can also note the illustrations that sometimes appear from chapter to chapter, this helps to immerse yourself even more in what is happening
- Jumpfire88Royal Road★★★★ 4.0I recently finished volume 2 when it was uploaded to Wattpad and may I say that it definitely gets better from there. So far it's a great series that's definitely got me hooked and coming back for more. So this will be my continuation of my previous review, because I had to sign into another account.
Starting off with the style, as always I do really like the style of how it's written. It's very easy to keep track of where you last read, simple, and straightforward.
As for the story, I do believe is it just starting to kick off despite being in Volume 2. The story is getting more and more intense with some calm moments before the storm. I think the new lore on the organization, Mr.Tomosama, Kibe's Mother, The Trickster and our new special guest is very interesting. In my opinion Kerry does great at foreshadowing certain events to come, such like the trickster like in Volume one when all of the students at the school were poisoned and this new third party was introduced. The things I'm very interested to read while continuing onto V3 is what is Mihara hiding, and how Kibe is going to fool the Detective and our new 'friendly' face.
For the characters, most of the cast remain the same, with a new face which I will talk about now, Brandon Wright is quite literally the L to Kibe's Light. A clear inspiration of Death Note. I personally liked Deathnote when I read the manga so I actually am interested to see how their dynamic will work out in V3. Moving onto some of the relationships I find Kibe and Jun's relationship to be very cute, it's a nice relationship that isn't fully built upon manipulation, but just being human. Kibe and Himmy's relationship on the other hand only grows towards my interests. It's clear that the realtionship is fully built upon manipulation, but whether or not it's turning out to be something else is unknown as of yet.
Lastly, the grammar. Not bad, yet not fully good. With Kerry there are always those instances where there are a few misspell words
