Lin Xia, an ocean reporter on the brink of a mental breakdown, ventures into Grey Reef Town for the third time, driven by the desperate need to find her sister Lin Qiu, who mysteriously vanished from a research vessel. Once renowned for its bioluminescent algae, this coastal town is now shrouded in eerie ecological anomalies: fish are found with human teeth growing inside them, coral forests grow in reverse during low tide, and relatives of the missing exhibit scaly, keratinous growths behind their ears that seem to writhe like living creatures.
