- DreameroftheUnknownRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story definitely has potential, but there is still some work that must be done before it becomes truly great. However, I can see it happening.
Style: 4/5. Others have said there is too much exposition but either the author fixed it, or I'm used to it. Regardless, the exposition wasn't to a point where it turned me off. However, I will say that in several chapters, there are people who speak entire paragraphs. This is also seen when the author is describing action scenes, which can be bad because action scenes are usually meant to be read in a snappy and quick fashion.
Story: 4.5/5. This is the best part, as the author has clearly devoted a lot of time to building their world. The imagination and creativity are everywhere, and a part of the reason why there's so much dialogue and exposition is because the author is trying to describe the world; and it works! The setting feels alive and expansive, with the magic system being great as well. There's also a tournament arc, and I do love those.
Grammar: 4/5. Part of the issues with the style lies in the grammar. There are times when words are capitalized when they shouldn't be and vice versa. The punctuation is also a bit wonky, particularly in regard to dialogue. It's not so bad that it hinders your reading, but I think it best to fix it as soon as possible.
Character: 4.5/5. I do enjoy the interactions between the main character and his sister (my favorite character so far), but the main character himself is kind of bland. His sister, with her realistic attitude and spunk mixed with moodiness, saves the day by overcoming her older brother's blandness. Still, it's not a good sign for the main character to be completely overshadowed, but I give it a 4.5/5 solely because of the side characters.
Overall: A 4.5/5. Since this author is ready to revise and take criticism, I plan on seeing this rating go up in the future. Good luck, and keep writing! - killwishRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Well thanks to author we have a wonderful novel i enjoy it well in starting i wanted to drop this novel read another but then after reading few chapters i didn't stop and now it's one of the my favourite novel well i know story have many flows but for me it is best for my enjoyment well i have request for author please don't stop i know this novel have few attention and few views well for this is best i love your world and i want to see more
- DrumoonthRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5While interesting and fun to read it feels clunky and awkward at times. Some amusing grammar mistakes are found here and there.Could use some polishing to make it shine. The writing gives the impression of someone who is attempting to write their first book. So best wishes and good luck.
- LadyFluffingtonsRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5At it's core, Chronicles of Kyr has an expansive world, interesting fantasy concepts, and likeable characters. It just also has issues with large text dumps, flat prose, and a rather bland MC.
Style - Starting with the weakest rating, Chronicles of Kyr heavily suffers from a lack of editing, and an underlying issue of narrative flow. Far too much of the style is framed in a straightforward manner, going from point A to point B without much flair.
Story - On a more positive note, the story itself -is- interesting, the world described in the novel is intriguing enough to get you hooked. Through a quirk of fate, Kyrion and his sister are off to go train their newfound powers through the time honoured tradition of a tournamant arc. And there's a reason those are so dang popular!
Grammar - The story is perfectly legible, but I'd recommend getting an editor of some kind, or more reasonably, start using something like Grammarly.
Character - As I said before, Kyrion himself is a bit bland, filling the roll of "relatable MC", but the characters he meets are interesting, first and foremost his sister. Spunky, with a tendancy to pout, you can definitely picture her as a nagging younger sister.
Overall, I'd recommend this novel to anyone seeking a laidback approach to fantasy, seeking an interesting tournament arc, or those who don't mind the occasional info dump. - Danny KapalotRoyal Road★★ 1.5Binge reading this up to chapter 43 made me very angry. I mean the MC has a lot of potential and powers that he isn't putting to use. He is a failure of a caster or manipulator, the only place he excels is as a healer. I hate the fact that he is so damn childish and stupid most of the time. He does not make any damn effort to improve himself and only does what other people tell him to do. I don't even understand the lame comedy at all. I mean this Novel is for grown adults not children. In my opinion, you should go and post this novel on a platform for fairytales or bedtime stories. With this I rest my damn case. The MC character doesn't know how to read and does nothing about it, the most annoying part is that that no one makes a good effort to teach him and all of them accept it like that. Like he is some toddler to be coddled or something.
