- JohnistRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story, while not having been posted until recently, is a very well thought out and intriguing tale. I fully hope that the author will not suffer burnout at the rapid pace of the chapter postings, as that would be the most undesirable outcome I can consider. This author has talent and I look forward to the continuation of this story and the direction it takes.
- KyuuSyronRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Which is a funny thing to say as the title of a review I hope people read...
All I really have to say about this story is that I held off on starting it for months because of a few bad reviews... and they were, in my opinion, misleading.
People complain so much about a specific event in the story, and that complaint is pretty unfair. The MC hits a rough patch for a few chapters, and for a few more he's a little bit more of a jerk than he was before due to said rough patch. But after that short adjustment period, he's pretty much back to the way he was except occasionally the narrator reminds you he went through it. All because the author hasn't explicity stated "And now he's fine! Hurrah!", people treat the MC from before and after as two totally different people. Even if plot that hasn't been released yet actually makes them two different people, it won't really change much since he looks and acts the same as he always has.
I've also read complaints on how fight scenes are bad. Well, I wouldn't say bad... but I can say they get better the more practice the author gets. At first it felt kind of like reading lines from a text based rpg. Or like reading the transcript of a d&d campaign without the idiotic jokes seperating each line. Like, "Person A does this to Monster B, Person C does this to Monster D, Monster E waits their turn because of reasons". The novelty of it was fun, but since it has since gone away I feel like maybe it wasn't intentional. Regardless, I enjoyed it.
The third complaint I read was about how the MC never grows or makes intelligent decisions. I feel these people just didn't read long enough, since basically every point they make is in fact addressed. To be fair, maybe the pacing was really slow and I never noticed. I've read up to chapter... 205ish? It's titled "tipping point". Shame it hasn't been updated in a few months now, since it is kind of a cliffhanger, but not one that I can't see the MC getting out of. - BlueCoffeeJavaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Covers thru postings #192
The story up till "Catalina" (#75, I think) is a sweet light novel with fun dungeon building elements. After that point, it becomes a more mature story, more adventure/action based with less character coddling. The dungeon core story elements take a back seat to the character interaction, but remain a strong underpinning of the story.
The writing style keeps reminding me of higher quality anime, that touch of outrageous and emotional meets serious story.
Rebutting those crying "MC Killer":
It does take a chunk of in-story time for the MC to recover (as much as he's able) from the mind-rape, and he is forever changed by it, the same as anyone who faces traumatic events is forever changed. However, the growth he undergoes during this part takes him from "oblivious child" to "relatable adult", and he does reclaim the parts of his personality that make him MC worthy.
Grammar-wise, what is posted is a decent quality draft. It needs mild copy-proofing, but not to the point where it has taken me out of the story. - halffull90Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Good story, perhaps a shortening of the Listel arc would make wonders for the flow of the novel, but thats up to the author when reviewing the book to publsh because atm it can make the story off putting when you start to read that arc.
Combat descriptions aren't the forte of the author, but it gets reduced as we go past initial dungeon building, and its significantly improved as well due to more experience. - LarryRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Good dungeon/human interactions. Definately a dungeon slice of life story.
I like the long chapters.
Begining is a litlle rough with all the kobolds and goblins fighting during the training phase.
Would like to see more dungeon building or dungeon conquering going on. The story arc with the rogue dungeons is good just taking too long I think. - WillyHRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like the story, just sometimes it feel to heavy/slow at some story. But klimax and antiklimax of the storyline is good. I like MC evolution from naif one become smart and resourcefull 😁. Im curious how strong he will be.
- Saruul888Royal Road★★★ 3.0Good story with bland characters that goes downhill after killing the main character. I know it was for character development and all that but just straight out killing him and starting from the start is just lazy writing.
- BeyogiRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Overall this is an interesting take on the Dungeon genre. Instead of a reincarnated psycho or saint, we get a natural dungeon core with all that implies. He's a bit special in some ways, such as having troubles with the normal Dungeon "Menu", but that only serves to introduce the reader.
The Dungeon system is very interesting. Dungeons eat XP instead of mana. Dungeon creatures cost XP. Killing a creature gives less mana than its creation costs. It sounds like a system set up to have the world quickly drain of XP. There's two caveats though. First people generate XP for the dungeon if they're in a dungeon area at midnight. Second: Dungeons can summon/buy rifts that spawn monsters for free.
The MC is a rather alien person. Very much Green and Orange morality. Which is good so he doesn't come over as a raging psychopath, but can also kill people who threaten him. Long term he finds solutions to preserve his life in ways where actually regularily mudering adventurers becomes disadvantageous, but he tends to preserve the rather distant point of view to human life. As much as it makes him appear bland on ocassion, it also shows his alienness and allows empathising with him.
The other characters are also rather bland. A strong weakness of this story. They tend to follow archetypes and aren't that well fleshed out. Sometimes it seems quantity over quality. Especially since the author has the habit of killing off or forgetting the more interesting characters.
So far I'd rate this story four stars. Not great, but interesting enough to read. The problem is the author apparently got bored with his MC and had him abducted, brainwashed and personality reset. The reader gets tortured for ten chapters by getting to watch how the MC is reset by someone's "Adventurer" personality marionette. And even after he's "freed" the brainwashing stays and he's basically another person. Honestly that was the point where I stopped caring about this story. It's imho one of the most assholish plot - ILoveAnimeRoyal Road★★ 2.0I really like concept and how main story went. Mc was kind of meh, not something I prefer. But story was still quite good, though it can be quite irritating to read. You can pretty much contribute all that to mc.
That was until novel went up in flames and we get new mc by brainwashing. I read that for a while, but finally it just got too annoying to read and I had to stop.
Its story of mc going with the flow no matter what. If that flow happens to take him into becoming slave or another person, he will accept it. - BartimaeusRoyal Road★ 1.0I find the storry disappointing:
The start and worldsetting are good, however I find the execution severely lacking. I am unable to understand most of the characters actions. Furthermore the Core 212 lacks a will of his own, he mostly goes with the flow, or what others tell him, I find his personality is nonexistent.
I know he almost knows nothing about the world, however with how he has seen core-37 react to humans (or what he has read in the journal) he should have been more cautious. Moreover with his dangerously low intelligence, his plotarmor is simply too superb, I had to abort reading this series after chapter 13 (Belindas birthday).
Because im a frail human being that can not handle so much idiocy, alcohol and cake.
The cake was a lie.
