Centipede

Description

This is a fan fic set in the brilliantly crafted world of Chrysalis, which RinoZ has generously given permission for me to post.

Our hero is no transmigrated human, but a genuine monster, spawned from the rich mana veins running beneath a fungal expanse.  Unlike other Claw Centipedes, this hatchling is special, gifted with sapience and cunning.  Both of which are useful tools to hunt and kill and eat with.  Maybe even more useful than claws and stinger.  (Probably not).  Please join them as they seek answers to life's big questions:  Is that edible?  If so, how do I kill it?  And can I get my kin to do most of the work?

Take this review with a grain of salt. This story is only just beginning and the paths of muse are myriad.
Our story begins with a well established world in which to develop. Fans of Chrysalis will know well the preturnatural level of worldbuilding and development that have gone into making that story what it is today.
In many cases, starting a story within an established universe prompts the author to become lazy with their exposition. Readers worry whether or not the story will be able to fully develop while stifled amidst the creativity of another author.
Enter JavinHawat. The masterwork in the making that he has already given us in the form of "Esper: Search for Power" speaks volumes to his drive and ability in worldbuilding and character development. Rather than smothering the creative spark within the folds of another story, my intuition says that the world of Chrysalis will be tinder to the flame that is JavinHawat's writing and we as readers will be all the richer for it.
I look forward to walking this path with the rest of you.

I hadn't read Chrysalis until JavinHawat pointed out his new fic was based on it.  I'm enjoying Chrysalis a lot, but Centipede might even be better.
I love how different the MC is, and the author's done a good job of showing the intelligence increasing in the character over the first 8 chapters.
It's quite entertaining having the reviled Centipede species from Chrysalis take center-stage, and it's quite well done.
    Definitely worth reading, highly recommended!

Truly monstrous MC are rare in fantasy novels, this one is monster through and through. It's refreshing to read about non-human MC not being weighted down by past experiences at all. Simpe but ingenious way of monster thinking is this story's charm point.

Centipede is a must read for anyone with a taste for light hearted, tongue-in-cheek fiction. Hunter is a suprisingly adorable ruthless, hungry monster.
I particularly enjoyed the thought put into how a new, intelligent creature would experience and grow their own little world.
Hunter has a child-like sing-song quality to their thoughts while still maintaining a sharp intelligence. The juxtaposition gives the story a unique charm and humor that attracts this reader.

    (review as of chapter 12)
Fun. The storytelling is bit spare, but it fits the simple personality of the protagonist.
This doesn't wow me at any particular point, but I enjoy it and it gets the job of telling the story done. Sometimes a brick wall is all you need. I haven't noticed any jarring grammar or spelling errors, which is nice on RR.

It is an ok read a little jarring with the third-person perspective but not to bad.  I have read up to the current chapter hoping to see more of the story.  I find it funny and enjoyable for the most part.

A really good fic that I enjoyed reading.
it is from the perspective of a monster, and not a reincarnated human which is a breath of fresh air.
the world building already exists from the original, but this does well to go into some aspects which have not or could not be explored by the original due to its plot
I really liked this story, but it’s a shame it has been dropped for a few years now. Here’s to hoping the author comes back soon, and is able to continue this amazing work…
