Description
The safest ship in the galaxy just vanished. The nightmare begins now
For decades,The Spirit of Adventurewas the pride of the Outer Territories—a legendary cruise ship that glided through the stars without incident. Its halls hosted diplomats, brokered peace treaties, and boasted a flawless safety record. To step aboard was to trust your life to the most secure civilian vessel in existence.
Until the impossible happened.
One moment, thousands of passengers and crew were asleep in their cabins. The next, they awoke in escape pods hurtling toward the surface of an unknown world. No ship. No explanation. No memory of what went wrong.
But this planet is no sanctuary.
Strange lifeforms lurk in the shadows. Extinct alien civilizations walk among the ruins. And a dark secret pulses beneath the surface, waiting to be uncovered. As the survivors fight to stay alive, they must confront more than just the horrors around them—they must face the sins of their pasts, the weight of their duties, and the terrifying truth of why they were brought here.
Will they conquer this world… or will it consume them? Will they forge alliances, or become the monsters they fear? And when the final reckoning comes—who will survive Castaway Planet?
The clock is ticking. The choice is theirs.

- D.J. RintoulRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Imagine if Lost had happened with a space ship, crashing on a hostile planet, with nature that didn't follow known rules of science. Imagine that there's an artificial intelligence or other apparently non-human intelligence monitoring events on this world for an unknown reason. And also, imagine that the creators to Lost had the answers to their mysteries all written down somewhere just out of sight. I'm much more confident in this author's knowledge of what the answers are to his own mysteries.
Also, frankly, the setting is such a gigantic puzzle in this case that I think it really puts Lost to shame. You can't create such an elaborate and interesting setting on a TV budget. Only the magic of language can make such a strange and intriguing place. The environment is so wild, so harsh, so much a super-Darwinian hellscape, that it is almost a character in itself.
The actual characters all have their personalities and also their secrets, and there are some extremely mysterious elements to the characters and the different abilities that some of them have, which only very slowly unfold themselves to the audience (and to some extent to the characters themselves, regarding the abilities). Survival stories at their best showcase personalities in conflict as well as human conflict with nature, and this story does all of the above quite well. There are always the people who are basically decreasing the group's likelihood of survival by existing, and there are people who are responsible and steady and intelligent, and there are people who uncover unexpected capabilities and potential as they rise to a challenge they never expected to face. All the survival drive and self-destructiveness and egotism and foolishness and benevolence of human nature are on full display.
At the same time, the style and the manner in which the story unfolds has me convinced that all of the humans we've met so far are just toys in the hands of an unseen, god-like presence and an unforgiving, all-surr - ScruffedUpRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, first and foremost I would like to recommend anyone who enjoys stories about survival. Groups of people who survive situations that they would rather not be involved in. As of chapter 8 we have a group of people who have crashed their ship onto a hostile planet, and have to survive it, however they choose to do so.
Now for the review;
Style/Story: (Combined because of how early it is)
The style of the story follows a bit more of a futuristic version of Lost, or one of the many other 'survivalist' stories. We have a group of people who have landed somewhere they don't want to be, and are forced to survive the elements, and the animals there. Think of it like Riddick, if you've ever watched that movie (Which you should, its great and would give you a good idea of what the book is kinda like,)
The story itself is written well, the chapters have a decent amount of content to them, and its entertaining to boot.
all in all, as of chapter 8 I give it a 5/5 for style and story
Grammar: No issues I have seen yet, 5/5 good work.
Character:
Now, survival stories usually have a tough time pulling their characters in the right directions. Everyone deals with issues differently, from maths, to dealing with massive insect monsters. We all deal in different ways.
In this story, I find that the characters (once again, rather early on) are acting rather realistically. We have most people just trying to survive, a few people with baggage trying to get through it, and people vying for power off the bat. (if you've ever worked an office job, you'll know how common those types are)
I like the characters, they've been done well. 5/5
====
Overall, the story shows a lot of promise. I think after another 10+ chapters there will be enough meat to the potatoes to warrant a re-review, but for now I will settle for this.
5/5, good shit chief. - gusteruRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Interesting novel with something for most people that like survival plots. You have the survivors trying to fight and survive against nature , wildlife , themselves and some unknown things.
The style of the story is interesting, is not focused on only one character but more on the group or other groups of survivors. So if you hate that, well .... now you know.
For me this is an ok story but the grammar ruins some of the atmosphere the story has since I use the "Read Aloud" function from Edge while I work. Missing words , double sentences , incomplete sentences , etc.
With some editing the novel can be even better than it is now.
