- A_R_TorrensRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's not often on RR that you see something so clean, so well polished and drawn out.
Style: Flowery. Detailed, descriptive. The hallmarks of an experienced writer, the style flows without any issues to see. There's enough variety too that its not just a block of text. I don't really have anything to gripe about.
Story: You ever get sentenced to death so you game the system? That. Completely, that. The MC knows, the people know.
That said, W O W. It really draws the reader in.
So basically,
There is a dungeon, and there are trials, and dude basically sold his soul to some probably not good dude. Yikes.
I like how the concept was handled, I like how he came so close yet ended up failing in the end. His struggle and immediate acceptance for survival.
I don't like thinking of a knife as 'thirsty'. Bravo. It does the suck.
Grammar: No issues, nothing to complain about. If anything, this story is well polished and clean. It lacks the "unedited rough draft that someone wrote at 3am" feel of RR. Prompts to the author.
Character: Well-developed, clear in his motives and reasons. Not ridiculously overpowered, not unreasonable. I like that not everything about his is completely dumped at the beginning.
The dialogue and the interactions were well handled, and not weird. The actions were believable. - CashewRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a 5 star story in my eyes! Its dark, brutal, and unrelenting, but there’s a promise of hope underlying it all - a hope to become powerful and to survive.
Our main character, Havok, just wants to survive and he’s willing to do whatever it takes. Sentenced to death, he find a new path within the call of the dungeon, but his journey through it is filled with terrors, battles against dungeon abominations, and the only person he can trust is himself.
I thought the introduction to get Havok into the dungeon was one of the best I’ve read. The dungeon itself is terrifying and so are the powers it can bestow. There’s deep, well thought out lore surrounding this dungeon world and how one grows in strength. Each kill makes you stronger but there’s way more to it than that! Still, it never overcomplicates itself.
The writing is super clean, engaging, descriptive, and well paced. I found very few errors, and the prose was effective and fun to read. There are some awesome lines in this!
So far, I like Havoks character. He is a survivor and is no stranger to pain and struggle. He can be brutal but isn’t evil and he makes the best decisions he can in the circumstances he’s been dealt.
Theres a ton of potential here for fans of power progression and this dungeon is dark and full of terrors! I’ll be following to see where this goes and you should too! - ElaikasesRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This fiction has clear development and the character is set against an ecosystem he doesn’t overpower yet fits into nicely.
it isn’t a fair world but it is one that can be dealt with and overcome.
no worship of divine inheritance or inherent nobility and yet no crudeness or excesses of dishonor. - MeoeuRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very well written. Fascinating Story with the necessary darkness while still being enjoyable. It may be a bit slower than many of us are used to but intelligent dialog and well described environments are worth that imo. Apart from that lorem ipsum dolores amat magister quintus stultus est.
