Built to Last: An Unimportant Crafting Prince
Community Rating
Description
That suits him perfectly.
Born with the memories of a previous life and a cultivator's awareness of magic from his first breath, Sorrim has no interest in court politics, military glory, or the competition for his father's approval that consumes most of his brothers. What he wants is simpler and, he suspects, far more valuable: to understand how things work, build them correctly, and make them last.

This story so far is what I call a slow build, setting up a complex foundation that gives you a solid sense of the world and particularly of what matters to the MC. The idea of knowledge being lost because those that have the knowledge - builders, artisans, engineers - aren't considered important to this society is a growing theme and one that I find really interesting. There is some backwards and forwards as the author follows threads of the narrative so don't expect a strictly linear timeline. But the characters are well crafted with the occasional non-MC POV chapters adding to the bigger picture. And the story while not pacy has a steady forward momentum that kept me reading until 2.00 in the morning.

This story is more than a story. It is a beautifully crafted story on crafting. Loving every word.I don't think I can do justice to in in my review but if you love crafting, character building and world building you will not be able to take a breather before you finish it.

Ive really enjoyed the slow pacing thanks to the mc slowly exploring and learning about his surroundings/cultivation, it feels like he is still progressing and completing what he wants in the background. The family drama is slowly building up, but once he advances in his cultvation, i can see the situation exploding thanks to his method.Really enjoyable. Keep up the good writing!

I wasn't sure about this one to start, I've never really read anything like it. Initially I found the format not what I expected and had trouble with it. Once I started reading though, I came to really enjoy the story. Some parts are written in a way that confuses me because the MC refers to not knowing X until they were 15 years old (they are 8 years old). I would think we jumped years or something. It's an odd way to narrate first person with knowledge of the future. In short though, I enjoyed reading it. Give it a shot. For feedback, I find certain phrases repetitive. Some sentences are entirely copied multiple times per chapter, particularly ones about the MC's age.

Despite the crazyness of time jumping back and fourth and some inconsistencies the story is actual really good. Its super slow and has a lot of skimable and skipable parts but if it was refined it would be amazing. How to or if to refine it is up to the auther but I would say making the timeline linear would be a great start. Also the only chapter I really struggled with undersatnding was the baker women taking him through the tunnels. Seemed kinda pointless and random. Also for all the AI claims I have no idea if it is AI assisted or not, guess I am bad at reading the tells of that. Also the story currently ends (as of chapter 16) when I think it will get most interesting. Him going into breathing stage with the maximum foundation is bound to cause some reaction and I hope the auther continues the story just to see what happens.

I read the around 10 chapters and I got the impression, that i was reading a diary with authors commentary and some PoV's. The few pov were more or less line fillers and have not brought any new information, additional context to the event.through out the chapters the time progression was "flexible", was 9, then 9.5, then 10 and then 9 again. Next chapter mc was 9.5 years old.For me it's a bit infuriating, because when you are past the "few lines" in the chapters you have a very promising character interaction, world building.0.1pkt * 10 chapters +1pkt likeable character +2pkt on mc skill development - 1.5pkt the not so desired parts = 2.5pktMaybe it will change in the later chapters and then I can change the overall score...

Well, I tried. The paragraphs are long with so much text (repetitive and not to the point) that it’s hard to even scroll through. There’s no pacing, structure, or consistency for that matter. I usually tell people to try it before judging, but I’m not so sure with this one. If the author read any books on writing he would mention that every one of them would insist on economy of words. Make text lean and on the point. And yeah not many do it în here but this story is just too much.

Honestly, there are too many inconsistencies in the first few chapters. It’s all almost ok except it’s choppy and inconsistent. And at the same time weirdly repetitive.the oldest three sons, centuries old, have their own garrisons, but are also just around the castle….the other you ger sons are going to be put in classes together when he’s 3 then he doesn’t actually do that until much older. The king had 8 sons close together but that’s ok because he once had 6 sons close together and here’s how far the 17th son 2 centuries ago got even though it’s been the same king for 4 centuries and they don’t renumber the sons even if someone dies so there shouldn’t have ever been a previous 17th son.he went to the crafts people @2.5 and mentioned the carpenter, but for some reason later that chapter gis first time meeting her he was 4. Etc. etc.edit: I jumped to chapter 16 to see if things improved. The brother in chapter 2.9 who was 19 years older than him suddenly was only 6 years older in chapter 16. So, no real improvement

this Story is written with AI and currently no TAG stating such.the summary and basic plot is good I like what you are trying to do. but as most stories done these days, it is written mostly by AI and it does not seem like the Author revised what the machine wrote. over the course of 5 chapters the MC has switched between three years old and four years old, thirteen different times.the story also states a fact and the next chapter says something else that discounts that fact. please if you are going to use AI to write a story atleast keep the AI consistent.

Got to chapter 5. So much time jumping back and forth. Repeated information within a few chapters. Eg. How princes are divided into groups is probably repeated once a chapter. The part where the world's language has 17 words for mana literally uses the same examples within 2 chapters.I saw another review say that this should have AI warning, even if it did it's probably the least filtered AI story I've seen.If you want anything but the reading equivalent to eating paper mashe, stay away.
