- InstateRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I found this book when it was about 6 chapters in and can't put it down. I am not really though on grammar or spelling and as far as I see both are pretty good. The story is original and fresh, possibly a one of a kind on this site. It's pacing is a little slow but with chapter 16 I think things are going to start speeding up. All in all, a pretty darn good book if I say so myself.
- SiliconWolfRoyal Road★★★ 2.5TL;DR: I am not glad I read this book.
Let's talk problems.
1. The book teaser is a lie. Not just a lie, but a complete and massive lie.
2. The characters are farily bland; only mildly interesting even when silly.
3. The ending is a fizzle. Maybe it's a setup for book 2?
Now the good stuff.
1. I read the whole thing, so it managed to keep my interest.
2. Good grammar, excellent descriptions.
3. Logical plot, realistic scenarios and resolutions.
4. Some fast chapters, some slow (I think some slow chapters are good).
I started reading this book because the teaser promised me that the Amish would fix the apocalypse. If you haven't yet figured out that this doesn't happen from my complaints, then I'm sorry to have spoiled this for you.
Because I didn't know that the book was going to fizzle at the end (and lie to me), I read through all of the chapters. If the characters has been more interesting, I would have enjoyed the slow chapters.
In conclusion, I'm still very angry. This is an apocalypse story where the Amish hero....survives. Doesn't thrive, doesn't prosper, doesn't conquer, isn't heroic. Just survives and isn't very smart about it either.
