Description

The apocalypse arrived without warning—First Contact? Check. Eldritch horrors? Yup. Magical Powers? Of course.

Welcome to a new, twisted world where the only remaining law was that of the jungle—where the weak perish and the strong prosper. Not all were fit or able to survive in the new world, but for Jack Fletcher, Doomsday Prepper, it turned out to be simple.

Time and effort yields bountiful results, and this start is a prime example of that. If the subsequent chapters contain similar levels of quality, this story will certainly go far.
Personally, I am partial to the genre, so I'll be following along with an open mind. It's always interesting to see each author's take on how the world we know meshes together with a magical system, and the protagonist seems to be well positioned to gain power in the middle of a paradigm shift in the world order, considering his preperations and resources.

For the story as a whole, I loved the main parts throughout. The system is  well balanced, not suffering from stat bloat like I've seen in the past, but what makes things better is that this is a story where the MC isn't special due to being in a crazy situation at the start which gave them a powerful class/skill/title. This protagonist is a doomsday prepper and simply prepared for whatever hell awaited the world. A stockpile of guns and melee armaments meant that he was more than sure of his survival, and running out of bullets wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, it wasn't a doomsday he ever imagined happening.
The system's existence is rather strange overall, in how it defines most modern weaponry improper. Abitrary is probably the best description, although this is followed through, so the system simply being built as such is the best explanation. Other things about the system exist to limit the creativity of participants, which make this far less of a survival story and more game-like.
This brings the next topic, being combat. All the scenes thus far have been fluid and well-described, making it easy to follow through and understand what's attacking what. The sole problem I have with these fights is that the author overplays the characters' various abilities in cases, making them seem competent rather than regular people given weapons literally hours ago. This is a problem for one particular side character.
Grammar and prose isn't something I discuss at length, it all flowed correctly and the descriptions felt vivid. I think I noticed a typo at one point, but it's not something I search for explicitly. I'm sure readers who scan over every word might find a couple more.
While there clearly is a greater plot at bay, nothing has been revealed yet besides some minor hints at some universe scale wars. Without more details I can't say anything about it is unique, but the author does a great job of drip feeding the content and leaving questions about it all.

Good read for fan of the genre. It's a real LitRPG in the true sense of the word, that is to say that everything (characters, the integration, the system, the trial system etc) is as close as possible to video games.
    - Style & Grammar
This is well written, no grammar, syntax nor style issues. The layout is good which makes the text pleasant to read. However, English is not my native language, so I may have missed some things...
    - Story
The apocalypse arrives on Earth, dragging everyone into a merciless ordeal where only the strongest will survive and acquire powers. Classic. The video game aspect is very present with the system, the levels, the tests, the monsters to kill to progress, the loot, the Citadel as a neutral zone... the mystery of the "aliens" and of the objective they pursue is a rather pleasant addition.
    - Character
The characters are quite caricatural and their characteristics are reduced to a minimum. It's not my favorite thing but it fits perfectly with the style of the story. Those who like LitRPG often prefer action, and as the characters are focused on that, they will be well served. The relationship with Sarah is nice, the betrayal episode too. Another positive point for me: the absence of an overpowered MC, I like to see the characters struggle.

While this story isn't super unique or anything, it is well written, with fairly believable characters, decent character chemistry, and good fight scenes. The twist of the MC being "born for this" isn't super special, but the way it's done is. The MC was a rich guy who practiced HEMA, had a bunker worthy of any other prepper, and is quite fit.
In general, while the two biggest twists to the standard are that the "born for this" MC was also prepared for this, it's also a cultivation litRPG, with levels. Most I've seen are either typical RPG levels, or the system works kinda like a tracker for how things are normally, and this novel combines them.
I think this novel is worth a shot, well written, with a bit more than enough of a hook to keep you reeled in. Expected this to be one of those novels that I end up dropping after 20 chapters, or the author does. I am very pleasently surprised to say this is not one of those, and from the announcement just made, it seems like it probably won't become one.
So to make it super basic (again), it is good. Give it a chance, deserves more than that much at least, but its all I can reasonably ask for.
    EDIT
Right, forgot to say! The MC doesn't have a cheat as far as I can tell, or at least not so early in to the story which measn they might actually earn it if they get one. This is despite the fact that they very much exist! A bit of writing that I think is neat, and good. I love The Primal Hunter, but sometimes a little less OP is nice.

Okay, The original wasn't bad. In fact I liked it. I thought it was a good version of Post apocalypse survival with a LITRPG system that is sprung on Earth. I enjoyed the direction that it was going in and the way the characters were shown and developed. The reason why I say all this is because there will be reviews wishing for the old version, and others who love this version better. Personally I would have like the Author to finish the other book. It is that good of a story.
This story is completely different, this story starts as the MC is taking a weekend away and being a trained survivalist has all the modern conviences.  In comes the Apocalyse and now we no longer have a modern situation so all the training he did with guns made it worthless. Fortunatly he still has some training with a sword.  Then he gets put in a group. This is leads to different situations and is a somewhat more realistic point of how the story should start.
Style: the author has set the timing of this book at a good pace. There isn't a huge amount of the filler. The action is fast pased and comes often yet we still have time for character development.
Grammar: This is a polished story with some typo's but very few grammar mistakes and is easy to read.
Story: I like the story I've given it the score it deserves and I've talked about it in the first couple of chapters. It is enjoyable to read, but it does sometimes make you stop and think about what you might have done in that situation.
Character: I miss some of the original character based story that the first one was, but for the most part the characters are filled out as three deminsional character and not just filler. Even when there is changes that happen they are logical and well written.

Seems like a very interesting System, apocalypse and Cultivation story so far, definitely would not mind having more chapters available to read. The premise is the usual "try to survive the apocalyptic event" with a System and Cultivation all mixed into one story. Will be interesting to see how the author writes the story.

I have read everything available on RR and cant wait for more. Both MC and side characters are well written and logical to the situation. Give it a chance.

    Overall: 5/5
I was very impressed by the book as it is so far, the prose is nice and plentiful, with good description and it provides plenty of options and ideas and insights when we get into the system that should do a lot to drive the imagination of the readers on what possibilities this story could take, or the character could achieve. I find the scenario cool, and actually it calls to mind Reborn: Apocalypse to me, which was a book I very much enjoyed. Including the action feeling similar in a way. I'd recommend giving this a shot, you should really get hooked around Chapter 3.
    Style: 5/5
Sentence length includes great variation, the flow is smooth and the prose is consistently good. It transitions well between narrative explanation and excation, with strong evocative language and great dynamics between characters. Distinctive and easy to become immersed in.
    Grammar: 5/5
While I did spot a few minor technical issues, they're very minor and likely wouldn't bug many people, they certainly didn't bug me. Overall the grammar is sufficient to not detract at all from the story, which is my measure of whether or not the grammar is worth lowering the score of- and it sure isn't! Pleasent and easy read.
    Story: 5/5
Cool story. Good competent and likable character to start with that many readers should be able to graft onto and enjoy. I know people like a character who is fairly grounded and rational, and our man Jack delivers on that, easily able to get to his feet and take a proactive stance as the world shifts around him. Believable in that regard too, given who the he his and so far the promise of the story is delivered quickly and efficiently as we get into the meat of it. This review is early on, but it's a good setup for an interesting tale.
    Character: 5/5
Like I said! Jack is likable, and very easy to grasp onto and follow along into this world, he appears to make calculating decisions and will definitely satisfy the itch people have to see a competent character th
