- KanukaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have been on the lookout for any story with a female lead, and stumbled upon this rare gem. I took it upon myself to read this story, finding myself completing enraptured with the story and main character, Mori the lich extroadinare.
Slightly disappointed with the no sequel or a continuation, but I understand where the author is coming and from and am extremely happy that he did so.
It's an amazing read. 10/10 would definitely recommend. - The CubeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TLDR: Story is as advertised on the tin, I recommend.
I LOVE this book. It utilises two of my favourite themes:
1) Character in unknown environment and they ont quite fit, or even fully understand what is happening but more cope or just deal with it, all "Oh fuck I'm in unfortunate and unknown situation what do I do?!? ... Well, enough freaking out for now, let's get out of here." like.
2) Clockwork. I LOVE clockwork, so this is just the story for me.
I really wish to see where this is going and would like to thank the author for this Magnificent work of art.
Now onto the ratings:
Style: the style is pretty unique but familiar enough that you won't get confused, although some issues are there.
Firstly, POV. It's a little difficult to notice when POV changes if it's someone nearby/viewing the same situation, although if you are attentive it's easy to notice Who is now at the helm thanks to the fact that every character has a certain unique feel to them but when you're in the flow, which happens quite often with how immersive it's written, you can read half a chapter without noticing a POV change. I suggest adding some sort of mark that notifies a change. Something like
-----
should suffice.
Story: the story is quite fresh and unique, and has a lot of "of yea, that makes sense, how did I not think of that?" bits and turns. Nothing else, really. Yes it has a few holes but as they say! Plot holes are cracks in the pavement of the story for the greenery of theories and mysteries to grow!
Grammar: I see no major issues but sometimes there is an extra symbol or a wrong letter here and there. I recommend just installing Language Tool extension, or running the text through grammarly at the end. But beware! Yellow is just a suggestion, not an error!
Characters: Fun and Exciting! I can't say much because spoilers but I can say this: the novel killer dilemma is handled SPECTACULARLY, although I am curious about the other passengers. Probably gonna be a LOT of puking and panic a - ArcSteinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Usually whenever I start a new book, I have to ease myself into enjoying it, usually about 3 to 5 chapters into the book proper for well written novels. Bone clock got me hooked in the first two. The style of writing makes the characters feel like they are actually alive, or in most cases, undead. I personally love when writers try out new ideas for the generic "mancer" and crafting classes instead of copying the same old boring archetype that sadly most "mancer" and especially necromancer type novels tend to do.
Quickman not only wrote a character with the defining feature of being a giant Mary Sue, but somehow managed to make me enjoy the Mary Sue-ness of the character, elevating the story from good to great. The character in question was both written as a isekai protagonist and a blank slate to organically explain the reason for her to not have any bias about magic, likewise leaving unaffected the creativity of the main character. The crafting is great too, using the main character's lack of knowledge as a strength rather than a weakness to create truly unique cases of undead that would otherwise be dismissed by the world as impossible. - KekskopfRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This one got me hooked pretty quickly. I came in and started reading with all kinds of bad expectations, and had a big surprise when it turns out the whole Clockpunk theme and the interactions of the characters let this story have quite the refreshing vibe.
One could argue that the mc is growing stronger too quickly in the early chapters, but with the world being as interesting as it is, this particular "flaw" didn't really desturb me at all while reading.
I did not notice any grammar issues. - Count-IRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story of an OP isekai MC building friendships and monsters. It follows some well tread tropes or a necromamcer MC as well but i find it very enjoyable. A great casual read. The only real story based critique is that every non major antagonist is very stereotypical and pigion holed.
- sploshwardRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Quickman not only created a big Mary Sue as a main character, but I actually found myself like him or her, which took the story from decent to outstanding. To naturally explain why she doesn't have any bias about magic and to ensure that her blank slate nature doesn't hinder the main character's imagination, the character in question was written as an isekai protagonist and a blank slate.
I was on the lookout for a narrative in which a woman had a significant role, and I found this one. I decided to read the story on my own and was immediately drawn into the world of Mori, the lich extroadinare, and the adventures he embarks through. - King FritoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The stories grammar is perfectly fine, I have noticed no mistakes or awkward phrasing in the 147 chapters that I read.
The characters are all quite well made in my opinion the protagonist and their companions all have consistent personalities and aren't mentally handicapped.
The story is just fine but it doesn't really seem to have any importance or even exist all that much, the protagonist sort of just does whatever and gets carried along for a ride. My main gripe with the story is that I don't like the fact that they don't really use their powers all that much they get reborn as a bargain lich but it seems to just be the same as a normal lich that can also use clockwork corpses. I thought this would lead them to be a sort of techno lich or have their creatures be a mix of tech and flesh but that never happens. They don't ever use the ability to raise clockwork except for about 3 times 2 at the start and one in the third arc I believe. And in the start they are said to give the gods some cool mana type for them to use but the mc basically doesn't have it because reasons and the gods don't use it either so really it never existed at all. Another issue is that the mc is a bit bland power wise because their main interesting abilities never got used, she has the ability to merge technology with herself so I assumed that she would end up some interesting combo of lich and robot with a variety of gadgets but nope she gets a Gatling gun that is never used then scrapped and then a grappling hook that is never used and scrapped, then later on it is used for her to just get a set of armor that regens and that's it. It's also slightly annoying that the mc just sorta told the first person she met that she was reincarnated, you could of at least waited for like three chapters or something, but the main issue for the story is how odd her strength is she just never comes off as being strong but instead quite weak somehow as she just doesn't seem to do much of anything. In shor - Sparks2020Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very cool story - a character thrown into a unique and disorientating environment, and they have to make sense of it. I had some issues with the POV shifts that threw me, but above it all I really like the clockwork (steampunk plus?) elements to the story.
Highly recommended you give this one a shot.
