Description

The gods don't play dice with the universe; they play Board & Conquest.

Wepwawet, young god of wolves and scouts, is given a task to prove himself worthy of becoming a major god: form a new pantheon with other junior deities, manage a young civilization on a newborn world, and train mortal Champions to resist an inevitable Titan Incursion.

Being saddled with an ice-covered barbarian village besieged from all sides isn’t ideal, but it's now his duty to transform this ragtag bunch of misfits into the most formidable force the world of Elphion has ever seen. It doesn’t matter how many of his fellow gods want his head on a spike, how many Miracles cards he has to collect, or how many uppity dragons and minions with attitude he has to manage; Wepwawet has never backed from a challenge and he isn’t starting now.

He was already a god; now, he’ll have to becomethegod.

Similar to the korean novel "The nebula's civilization" like SUPER similar. Change the gods names with random korean every-day names, and say the characters were normal people playing as gods and you would have the same exact premise.
Having said that, this was pretty good so far! I never finished The nebula's civilization, but I have a feeling I'll continue to devour this story as the chapters come out

From the author of some of the best stories on Royal Road, B&C does not disappoint.
From the view of main character 1 - the teenaged god wepewet trying to prove to himself and his father that he can run a civilization - the world is a game - and while he may superficially care for the mortals on his board the ties are just that superficial.
From the view of main character 2 - Victoria her world has been thrust into a deadly serious life or death clash with old enemies now ruled by inscrutable and powerful gods, as well as new monstrous deities seeking her worlds utter annihilation.
Her allegiance to weppy is like a desperate woman clinging to an awkward teenager's life line.
This contrast between the two maincharacters is deeply compelling and empowers both the humor and lightheartedness of weppy's perspective as well as the gritty dark experience on the ground of very real and very terrifying wars.
    Absolute banger in the making.

I am loving this story for so many reasons. Primarily, it strikes at the heart of my appreciation for litrpg - multi-faceted build crafting. Wepwawet builds a deck of miracles to use, manages his troops and delves into the specifics of his Champions, their stats and their abilities. It's crunchy, but manageably so, and things are revealed slowly enough that I imagine you'd struggle to get lost in the specifics.
It's very well written, from an author who has consistently delivered on just about everything he's written. Big

Love the story! I obsessively check for updates, its THAT good and addicting! The family drama of the Egyptian pantheon regarding a sister, a brother, heirship...  the System, mana that give life and the mortals! It's so interesting to learn about the gods and their management of worlds. I love the strong female lead, she's my favorite, the author's doing great with that, and the comparison of other land culture shock like that one land that is really pretty all business-minded as far as to say everything has a price in their eyes, even love. Poor god-friend managing that land.....

Gods playing games with mortals as their game pieces?  That is a recipe just crying out for a litrpg and this story delivers.
You have a host of gods from all pantheons blended in together, with their own ways of dealing with the mortals they control.  Some treat them as mere pieces, others as actual people.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, and speaking of playing, if this were an actual game I'd play it.

Maxime J. Durand is as ever a great writer. I always enjoy the style and the liveliness in every story. Having seen many references to his in universe board game Board & Conquest in other stories it amuses me greatly for it to be the theme of it's own story.
This will definitely be a tale I come back to.

This story has an interesting faith and miracle magic system combined with board-game-esque powers and level ups - and it's very well done! The MC is interesting, relatable, and amusing as they navigate what it means to be a god and figure out how they should represent themselves to their worshippers.
    Loving the story!

Despite being introduced as a litrpg Board & Conquest sticks out even this early on in that it's two stories going on at once and despite Wepwawet being introduced as a main protagonist he's quickly joined by a mortal Duertagonist with Victoire.
Wepy's side of things is the litrpg story with all the numbers, stat screens, and the like he's a new god who's learning the ropes on how to be a be a god and he's getting his feet wet on building societies, guiding and ruling mortals, all that stuff. In execution this causes Wepy perspective to resemble a main character in a sitcom or a sports anime like Shangri-La Frontier. Void puts a comedic bent on mythology portraying the pantheons as squabbling, melodramatic families ruled by mundane issues and full knowledge and use of modern anemities but with their cosmic power being very real as well as their duty of ruling the cosmos...through a children's board game!
This creates the first plot telling the story of Wepy an insecure teenager eager to get his fratboy dad Set's approval leading to him overcompensating and pretending to be far more competent and cool than he actually is to his new worshippers.
Next up on the human side of things is Victoire a human knight defending a village of beastfolk where Wepy first arrives on the planet he's meant to watch over and makes her his first hero. Victoire is Wepy's foil in many ways. Serious to a fault, naturally stoic, noble, and straightforward with very little to hide and completely sure who she is. She provides an on-the-ground perspective that lets the reader see whatever Wepy misses as well as acting as a straightforward action hero when combat starts since Wepy is mostly limited to fighting through board games. As a native to a feudal society Victoire's perspective is very serious and dramatic creating a dual narrative of both a dramedy litrpg and a more conventional fantasy epic at once.
This leads to it being a litrpg that's also not a litrpg. While Wepy's perspective shows

I am really enjoying this story. It is well written and I am really looking forward to seeing where this goes. My only gripe is that Wolf-Boss (I love that nickname) is to hands on, he is acting to much like a king/noble then a God. We are still in the early stages so hopefully this changes in the future, and he does become more god-like and less Lord-like. My other hope is that there is some good passage of time, gods shouldn't work on the same time frame as mortals. Mortals should be mortal and the best way to illustrate that is with time. I am also curious if we will ever see demigods.
    Keep up the good work

( Reviewed as of Chapter 6, so this will probably be very outdated soon! )
Oh boy, deck building LitRPG just got a new cardmaster!
The setup and background for this story is quite thrilling! Board & Conquest has been a multiversal constant throughout Void's many many stories, and it's finally getting the spotlight and detail that was alluded to in every instance! With this much room to work with, I can't imagine that it will be a slow or laid back read, there's surely action waiting around each corner, right?
Leaning more into the godly side of things, it gives off the typical concepts of 'New god has to make do with a ragtag group of worshippers, but ultimately grows into a force to be reckoned with', and it somewhat flips those around. Wepwawet isn't some fresh bright eyed kid, he knows what the goal is and how to achieve it. Atleast some of the time. There isn't much stumbling around as the setup and action start almost immediately, the stakes are set with the looming Titan invasion among other issues, and so far the supporting cast shows signs of potential development and witty writing to help keep the Big Dog humble.
6 chapters in and I am invested! It might be too early to judge the story, but that won't stop me! Regardless, I am excited to see where the story goes!
