- ArtbadgerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I only have two issues with this story. First, the names are given Western style, with personal name first and family name last. This confused the crap out of me for several chapters, and still bugs me. Second, I really want to see more crazy potions and ointments.
But, overall, I love this story. It's fun, engaging, and there's a good array of well developed characters. The world is a little vague, but that's common in the genre. - StrangestQuarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like this story for a number of reasons, the characters are fun, the jokes are landing surprisingly well and the LitRPG system is simple but very effective to the world, but the main reason I prefer it to almost all cultivation stories I've ever read is that people have morals in it. By this I mean that most, if not all important characters up to this point consider full mortals people as well and no one is willing to kill for basically nothing.
If you dislike the callous attitude of most cultivation novels but like the concept besides, I recommend this wholeheartedly. - TraxlerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm a sucker for farming and progression novels, and this does both well. From the beginning, you're sucked into this world where everyone's on a mad dash race to become the most powerful after getting a system, and our relatable MC's no exception. You watch him go from a humble gardener to someone following the path of cultivation.
The novel strikes a balance between a slice-of-life fantasy and a progression novel, where everyday people can get cultivation skills in blacksmithing and carpentry, thus allowing a cozy novel where you can get that satisfying level-up vibe without it turning into a slaughter-fest. That's a nice vibe.
Want to know what encapsulates the spirit of this book? Consider the protagonist's spirit beast: a butterfly. Not a colossal, world-trekking leviathan, but a tiny, delicate butterfly. It might seem absurd, but the bonding between them transcends language barriers, blossoming into a wholesome, unique relationship that is bound to captivate you. It's not just 5-star worthy, it's priceless.
Let's delve into the aspects that make this novel:
The style is impeccable. The prose flows naturally, the protagonist's internal monologue feels familiar, and it's sprinkled with a brand of humor that is unobtrusive yet delightful. The grammar, crucial for maintaining immersion, is flawless. You won't be jolted out of the narrative by errors, ensuring an undisturbed reading experience.
The main character is likable and relatable, invoking an immediate connection that will have you cheering them on. The vibrant, distinctive dialogue guarantees you're engaging with fully realized characters, each with their unique personalities. Their dialogue isn't interchangable.
When it comes to the plot, this is an engaging progression novel. A man gains access to a system and dedicates himself to leveling up. Throw in a dash of action and an endearing spirit beast relationship, and you have a compelling narrative. If there's one aspect I'm eagerly anticipating more of, - Zealous BadgerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A mortal hero in a system-cultivation hybrid world slowly grows in power on his quest to get to the top. I'm enjoying the premise so far, and it is an enjoyable, allbeit short read at the moment. Reviewing it at 5 starts because I believe in the potential! Come join the ride.
- keeganashleyliveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First and foremost, the main character is the reason for the five out of five star rating for me. I liked the lowly kind of feeling of the main character in comparison to the odds and the character’s reactions. They seem to be a very average person which really feels familiar and safe in a strange sort of way---like we already know them. The combination of their dialogue and description made them really relatable and helped the narrative and story flow very well (since I was already interested and invested in the character).
This is definitely a LitRPG world, so, if that is your thing, you are in good hands. The blue boxes are used really well, and I liked watching the progression of the main character in this different-feeling world than many other LitRPG worlds I’ve read. The gardening aspect was very interesting and gave it a different dynamic which worked for it.
There were no glaring grammatical errors that stopped my reading experience or anything and, as I mentioned, I really enjoyed the main character. This is a story that reads pleasantly along---I wasn’t falling off the edge of my seat or white-knuckling anything. I’m usually more for a faster pace, but, if you’re looking for a more meandering, enjoyable read, this is definitely it. - location201Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel so far and highly recommend it. Its very different from your traditional xianxia novels and reminds me a lot of beware of chicken. Which btw, it a good thing.
It's a relaxing read so far and I hope it stays that way. The characters are quite well fleshed out already and I look forward to seeing them develop. Especially Tianyi - LotusBrushRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style: The story reads at an easy pace, and the first person narrative is consistent from what I have read. I enjoy how slow and laid back the story feels, yet I feel as though the story will ramp up soon, and I am looking forward to it.
Grammar: No spelling mistakes to speak of, and certainly nothing that impacts readability. Mechanical errors are also few to none, and it's quite enjoyable to read.
Story: Typical weak to strong story, with a likeable protagonist and a fun twist. He is a gardener. I am especially fond of how the litRPG elements are used. The boxes are there, but not too in your face, and the plot progresses even without their presence.
Characters: I really like the characters we've met so far. The protagonist is simple-minded (in a good way), and acts as I would expect. He has morals, and it's nice to have a genuinely kind main character. As for the other characters, I can't say I'm attached to them, except for one. It feels weird to say that I like a butterfly, but Tianyi is adorable, and I can't wait to see where this goes and how their relationship progresses. - DrZer0Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like this story a lot. I like the premise of someone starting from humble beginnings and I especially like the way iy makes that count. I can't give it full marks as there's something intangible about it that makes it feel lacking. I think it's the pacing. While I like that it's a slow build and the pace is needed for that making the humble origin count I think it results in a certain lack of urgency on my part
Sorry for the somewhat unfair review, criticising something that is a big part of why I like it. But as much as I loved the story I don't think it's perfect, I just struggle to articulate why.
Hope my incoherent rambling has some insight. - wingmanRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Firstly this is a review swap from me. The story is about a young man named Kai who strive to be the best cultivator possible but this story make the concept unique from the hoard of the same style of the novel where the protagonist gets overpowered and a harem ofbeautiful girls in 3 chapters.
Style: nothing special that we haven't seen used before but it is certainly clearer than most novels.
Grammar: nothing that I can see that will affect the reading experience that badly mind you I am weak at grammar I can't spot that many mistakes (recommendation using Grammarly do not trust me)
Story: unique concept and an interesting story that you have made with a great way of story telling while not including too much of the system into it. Also, you have created a story that stands out from the crowd of Cultivating novel.
Character: extremely likeable and the amount of character building surprise me for a cultivating novel plus with the first chapter describe the different sect and faction that seek to use the system to advance is a amazing touch that I am shock by.
Conclusion: did a great job making this story 10/10 would read again and follow. - visigothRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The author takes a setting that already has a hard magic system and adds a gamer system on top of it yet still fails to deliver on the progression itch. These systems are supposed to provide a more tangible sense of progression that feels satisfying to the reader yet after 500 pages in hes still barely a cultivator.
He supposedly does have a cheat in regards to the system yet besides a couple of dialogue suggestions it hasn't really done much. I feel as though we won't see meaningful progress for quite a while so im going to be bookmarking this story for my grandchildren.
