Bleen Fada - The Legendary Pathfinder
Community Rating
Description
It had been decades since dreams started to kill. Today, it's finally over.Mahon was once a general and an impressive warrior. In his dreams. In Nightmare. There, he put an end to the war that plagued mankind for decades. In the real world, however, the war has been raging for millenia, and Mahon is weak, his body frail from all his years spent dream-fighting. But it's time for a new beginning.
In a world he knows almost nothing about, he will struggle to climb back to power, a necessity if he wants to achieve his goal. But he doesn’t lack willpower. And he already reached the highest ranks before. Who is to say he can’t do it again? That is, if the Fada let it be…
This story takes place in a medieval fantasy world. Swords and schemes are the common ways to assert your place among the powerful. This story follows Mahon on his journey back to power. Not a simple one, as he will uncover some of the deepest mysteries that had been buried deep down along the ages.
As of now, 98% of my chapters are through Mahon’s PoV and I want to keep it that way. There will be no unending PoV swaps for multiple chapters. Although war/conflict is one of the main themes, it’s not really a story about war. Instead, expect fights, plots, foreshadowing, progression and adventure from these chapters.
It’s my first time publishing a book, and English is not my native language. I hope you will enjoy the story and that you’ll be indulgent enough to point out my mistakes with kindness. I wish to grow as a better writer and provide something that will make you cheer for, and shiver in anticipation. As long as you’re not, it means there is something to improve.
Note: It's a slow progression fantasy, and some have raised complaints about the depressing tones and slowness in some of the first chapters. Rest assured, it soon disappears as Mahon progresses.

- vassalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is more of a traditional high fantasy story rather than the transmigration variety, which based on the synopsis, I thought I was getting into. I have been very impressed with it , the world is rich with color -pun intended- and the characters have depth to them. The world reminds me of a Brandon Sanderson world and while the writing isn't quite at the same level as a best selling author it's solid and has some good twists and turns. The action is not over done and the world building is not just an info dump expose. All in all worth a follow. The story is bit of a slow burn with a focus on developing the story rather than jumping from fight to fight. One of the things that I enjoyed was at the academy (I know a rather common troupe) they have a strategy component to the curriculum and that involves playing a table top game. This amused me more than it should. I did really like how the world didn't just reward those that could swing a sword but required a war hammer battle to prove who has the bigger brain. The mc is op- but suffering from the toll of being stuck in a dream scape battle for years which makes for some fun interactions where he isn't seeking out ancient guru's to learn the 12 step spear art but rather working on getting his body back into fighting shape. There have been several tropes that I expected the author to lazily follow but was pleasantly surprised with the direction taken as the molds got broken and the characters developed without being rail roaded into a specific tropey mold.

Look at above words. You understand what they mean perfectly. They might not be properly written according to grammar but we, as readers, understand the meaning behind them. Should we raise an issue because of the lack of grammar rules being followed? I'll leave that up to the individual. I ain't raising a fuss at least.
Grammar is fine. Personality was weird but I think that's more due to me not reading the genre that much. Premise is fun. Lore was fine as well, though I wouldn't mind a bit more detail at some points. Not at the level of tolkein explain golf just yet but still. 5/5 - Lapochka8Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is one of the few books I've seen lately that isn't the same upcycled garbage from a genre that's been overworked and overwritten with the exact same plot, just with different names and genders.
It's a new plot line that is dissimilar to everything else I've read so far. - NatarajaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0- Style & Grammar
This is well written, no grammar, syntax nor style issues. The layout is good which makes the text pleasant to read. Everything is very fluid and I was able to get into the story without a problem. English is not my native language, so I may have missed some things...
- Story
The world building is incredibly well thought out and original. The alien threat, the war in the nightmares, the loss of memory, the long life... many situations that pose completely new questions to the characters and make us want to know more. Some points are artificially mysterious, for example why the war should not be stopped, but that's a detail.
- Character
The reputation of the MC gives him a nice aura, but his behavior is a bit disappointing in comparison. He is supposed to have willpower, strength, experience... you don't necessarily feel it in his behavior. If there is a point on which to improve the fiction it is this one, the psychology, the emotions and the behaviors of the MC and of the other characters (the council is also too stereotyped for my taste). That said I really like that Mahon has to start from scratch in Ratbo. - ThomasvonDrakenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Blenden Fass is a story that put a lot of effort into developing some of its philosophical concepts. I don't know if the ColorShare thing is from some real life culture, but either way it's a very interesting concept that I would say has real life applications.
Paired with a great character progression and interesting side characters I would definitely recommend reading it.
Shame that it is on Hiatus. - casio8888Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like this story. It has superb worldbuilding, interresting characters and a story that respects the intelligence of the reader most of all.
It might start slow, but the motivations of the main character are solid and his reasoning is foreshadowed, explained and most of all, reasonable. Although the story might start off a bit harsh, it is so well written that it elevates the euphoria of the good moments even higher.
The only gripes I have with the story is a lack of maps (especially for the second arc) and the few mistakes with possessive determiners (his, hers, its, their) which really take you out of the reading flow for a second. But this problem doesn't appear too often, so I can overlook it. - gliglithRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story's first chapter is well crafted in that it introduces the MC and premise through almost a vignette that grips you and makes you look forward to learning more. After that first chapter, we get a grim look into a world entrenched in a war on peoples' psyches, that is, a nightmare war.
Without giving too much away, we get an intriguing taste of class consciousness/class warfare that informs this story's world building. We get to see how different people respond to the coming of the nightmare, and how it changes social dynamics a la the purge (at least, that's a personal comparison I can make). Character wise we get a reatable MC who seems to have been better suited for the nightmare than not, though there is still much more to learn about him. As far as style goes we get a nice balance of descriptive language and dialogue that allow the reader to be present in the story, and keeps you wanting more, more, more. I am interested to see how life in the nightmare vs the waking affects our MC and how the different sociopolitical effects of such a psyche-based war play out. This story is still in its inkling as of this review, but as it stands now is excellently primed to take you on an intense ride full of action and intrigue. - grovekeeperRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Currently book one is finished and there is a month gap for book 2.
The grammar is great, no mistakes which I could spot.
The style is slow burning at first, but picks up speed later. Maybe there is an extra bit of underdog suffering but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The story is spectacular. The world building is solid and unique. The hats which we see for HR meetings have been given a main focus, but the story really builds on it and at the same time keeps an air of mystery which leaves the readers wanting for more. Sometimes the reader just wouldn't expect something to happen, even if it was there all along. The fights are beautifully described though can be better. There is a space constraint in describing strategy matches, but even though I understand that, those still felt a bit hollow. Can be better.
The characters are really great. The number of characters are very less, but it makes uo for it. We only see them through Mahon's perspective and with only that development has suffered a bit. Maybe diff perspectives will help or devoting space to emotions or actions will help. - raph_00251Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It start slow but gets intense, you get immeged in the story very deeply, and I got the sense that it is the beginning of a long narrative! It feels like there are already a lot of mysteries planted there and waiting to be discovered. The plot makes you want to read the next chapters and I can't wait for the next release, wish is the best sign you can hope for! I already missed some sleep for another chapter ^^
I liked the way the character is pictured, very driven but not too pretentious, very knowing but also clueless like a baby. It is fun to see this shy general discovering his new life! There is an important part left for strategies, and its cunning moments and descriptions all over.
The discovery of this world got my curiosity, with interesting magic transformation and parallel world theory along with training motivation and technics.
Grammar is good, or at least I didn't see any mistakes personally.
Overall style is balanced for me, there is the right amount of adventure, fights, friendship, and training, with rythm that glue you to the text ! I also like that the author shows his own center of interest, with mathematics chapter ,which is uncommon to say the least.
A must read, well weighted and with promising ideas that got all my attention! - ArkkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good pace, good story, well written. I am not sure why there is a need for a lot of words when only a few of them are really needed, but I guess I can go along with it. It is good, give it a try, specially if you are the type of person that does not need every little detail of a world explained instantly.
