Shonen typically isn't my cup of tea, these days, but this is pretty good.
Blake has a ton of motivation. I mean, the baddie so far was literally a mentor he leaned on after his parents died.
    Then other stuff that's a little spoiler-y so I won't say.
The pacing so far is pretty rapid fire, but I honestly feel that's setup for the story. So, I like that. I'd rather not wait through chapters of build-up to get to the meat of the story. I think that was well excuted.
The world and current situation is intriguing, but we don't really know what's going on yet. It's getting unpacked slowly and organically. That's fine. Often times, you are stuck between choosing info dump or slow reveals, and this one pucked the slower route. That's perfect for this story, in my opinion.
Honestly, the only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because I try not to give perfect ratings unless something completely blows me out of the water.
This is solid and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.
The only thing I would personally want is an accurate age for Blake. But that's my personal hangup.

Start off strong and heavy. Right now Blake is easily likeably and justify character for his future action. The writing style is very good and also the pacing as well. There haven't been any issues with grammar so it is fine experience. Due to the little content, I can't give it five stars. But do recommend this story.

This book is an exciting mix of action and emotion! From the extremely emotional yet fantastic first chapter, to the betrayal of characters in the second, this story is great! Blake is a strong, determined main character, and the pacing is quick, and action packed. The village scenes add warmth, and you get a real feel for Blake's loyalty to his friends. The grammar and overall writing are powerful; you can tell time was put into each chapter. This story is shaping up to be a refreshing take on a disastrous world! If you’re into stories with heart and action (or shonen), this is for you! And it's not even complete! Happy reading fellas.

Alright, this one hits hard and it’s intense from the get-go— this guy Blake’s out there crawling out of a wreck, dodging gunfire, and dealing with heartbreak all at once. Jeff’s done a nice job keeping the sort of action thatpulls you in, and before you know it, you’re rooting for this kid as he grows up into a knife-throwing ninja, leaping rooftops and taking on terrorists like it’s just another Tuesday. The story is fast, kinda emotional too, and full of those gut-punch moments. I guess it’s in the write place here in RR.
