Description

Hannah has a routine. Wake up, take a shower, go to school, go to work, come home, and pass out. It's a perfectly normal routine for a perfectly normal girl who does not have to remember how her limbs work every morning because of haunting nightmares of being a very different creature in a very different world. But that's all she thinks they are—nightmares—until one night they're all too lucid, and her body on Earth starts to change. Slowly, Hannah's humanity starts to slip away... but surely she can continue just sticking to routine, right? It'll be fine. It has to be.

A mix of urban fantasy and isekai, Bioshifter is a story in two worlds, with magic leaking in from one to the other. It's a story about love, self-acceptance, neurodivergency, and a whole lot of trauma. Strap in and enjoy!

I am so thoroughly hooked on this it's absurd. A story should not be both this intriguing and gripping with only a premise.
Hannah is a confusing bundle of very human thoughts and feelings and reads like a "the fly" positive spin fan fiction. Body horror and super powers and cool concepts oh my!

This is a very queer story about a girl, Hannah, morphing into her true self (both literally and metaphorically) and in doing so purposefully or accidentally helping others achieve the same. It's beautifully written, the world unique, the characters alive, like true people or true not people in the case of Sela.
Incidentally I was an egg before reading this, and now I have hatched, I couldn't be more happy. This story was one of the things driving my discovery, I saw many parallels to myself in Valerie and in true Thundamoo fashion it was very gay,  which I guess only strengthend it all.
I'll remember Bioshifter till the day I die (so hopefully forever)

Loved this story! Definitely one of my favorite body horror fics of all time.
The author knows about LGBTQ+ topics, and does a very good job applying them to this situation. Such as how the MC stresses out about being discovered, and how the MC handles their need to be "normal" vs the euphoria they can get from their changes. Which greatly enhances the fic, as it feels a lot more real than a lot of body horror (or gender bender) fics that pretty much entirely skip over these kinds of identity issues. Which is a shame, because concepts like euphoria/dysphoria are practically perfect for identity issues and lots of internal drama. As this fic shows.
The split isekai and real life mechanic is also interesting. I'm not entirely sure where the isekai part is going, since it's pretty open ended at this point. But switching between the two helps keep my interest in both, since if one world has more plot going on than the other I am motivated to read through the other world to get to that. Though both worlds have some pretty good stuff going on, depending on where in the story you are.
Aside from that this features lots of trauma interspersed with occasional joy, pretty grey characters, and occasional Pokemon references.

Never used patreon to get more chapters of a story before, or used Patreon ever, but now I have! And it's because of this story! I'm quite frugal with my money and this story made me so desperate for more content that I spent my hard earned Canadian dollary doos for it!
I've read one other of Thundamoo's stories "Hive Mind Give Good Hugs" and it was a nice story. Not absolutely amazing but I did absolutely enjoy reading it as it was being released. This story is somewhat similar but just so much better in practically every way.
The mystery of the plot, wondering constantly what's going to happen and why everything is happening in the first place grabs your attention and just never lets go. Thundamoo sure is a fan of cliff hangers and boy does he love to end chapters that way. This story does have a lot of LGBT subjects and such so if you're really not a fan of that kinda stuff, it may get annoying for you.
Style: Completely in the first person and only the MC's perspective, the author said they're not planning on any other perspectives.
Story: Very intersting and keeps your attention all the time. You'll always worry about problems on the horizon but in a fun and traumatic way, both at the same time.
Grammar: Very few mistakes, maybe a barely noticable mistake once or twice every chapter or two.
Character: Intersting characters. The MC's thoughts are definitely humourous and relatable in some ways.

this story is pretty amazing, I couldn't believe that fter Katalepsis, another one could catch my interest, even if the pace is slow its still cativating and not boring, though few things is a little anooying, its still pretty good, thank you Emi for this recommendation. S2. I only wanted to give some small feedback, but the the Royal guard won't let me, so I say toe veryone that supporting thhe creator will not be a waste of money, its worth to read.

(I'm a patreon so I've read chapter 30 as of posting this)
Honestly, how Thundamoo writes characters is truly amazing. The struggle she puts them through and the changes imparted is incredibly well designed and I can really feel it. I've been looking forward to seeing it on royalroad for a long time and I'm glad that more people can read it now.

Oh boy is this story emotionally draining, in the best possible way. At it's core, it's a story about marginalized people and their struggle to just survive. It delves into trauma, abuse, transphobia/bigotry, body dismorphia, and found family.
At times, I had a hard time reading because I related with these topics so intensely and a number of times it brought me to tears. It's feels like the author put many of their own experiences and all of their heart into a coming of age story that's bittersweet and beautiful.

There is just something about how Moo writes these characters thats feels honest. And the sheer horror of the stories adds to them. Good themes, good characters and good narrative. I really do enjoy seeing every story from Moo being a new window in scarring people for life. Keep it up Moo!

Honestly I don’t know what to write more about this book.
This novel showed me a whole new world of interesting philosophical questions, incredible ethical dilemmas, fascinating and extremely tragic stories with very creative images and metaphors. And characters are amazingly interesting. It’s terrifying but beautiful story, it is extremely sad yet wholesome. This book leaves me with broken heart but I still think it is a great book. Think about it as something close to Russian classic novels. But with much more creativity in metaphors and storytelling.

This is probably one of the best stories I've read on RR.
Very well rounded and believable characters, lots of depth, interesting magic system and world building, lovable/hatable mc, this novel has it all.
My only warning is that the trauma and mental illness in this story makes it a bit heavy :) in a good way though. It makes this the most realistic (character wise) fantasy I've read in a while!
