- QueenInRagsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Its a good story. I'll give it that.
The characters are well fleshed out. Grammar flows. Monologues exist. And worldbuilding is attempted.
It just has that weird flavor that quite a few web novels have. That strange indifferent tone and atmosphere that doesn't quite fit. Things are told, not shown, and crop up rather quickly and out of the blue.
I don't really have any advice I can give regarding this issue. All I can boil it down to is that it creates a really odd atmosphere.
Like many web novels that does not mean this one won't be enjoyable or great. It's just not professional writing. And I can appreciate that.
Fashion designers are not things often seen and I cant wait to see how this story flows. Great job author !!! - mandronRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of my favorite stories on this site, i am eagerly awaiting more chapters from this gifted author! I am a huge fan of alternative fantasy stories and the world in which the story takes place is fully immersive and different, with unique races, and leveling systems! Dont miss this book, as you wont be disapointed
- NatarajaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0You like slices of life and isekian heroes who don't want to fight, then you will like Beauty in simplicity which focuses on a young man who becomes by chance a tailor in a fantasy world.
- Style & Grammar
This is well written, no grammar, syntax nor style issues. The layout is good which makes the text pleasant to read. The dialogues (banters) are sometimes a bit long/lack of emotion, but this is a detail.
- Story
It's fun, it's casual... and even a little too casual for me. I know enough about sewing to know that more than half of the work is working on the patterns (which is the hard part!), then there's cutting, and only sewing to finish (and usually we make a first test garment before using the expensive fabric). The first two aspects are neglected which I find quite frustrating, but then again I'm an enthusiast ^^ Oh there is also the knowledge of the fabrics, the MC strangely seems to have this knowledge in an innate way... and normally there are several try on directly on the person to fit the clothes. Anyway I really like the theme and I wish it was more developed!
- Character
The MC is both very phlegmatic and at the same time passionate about his projects to the point of losing himself in them. This personality is quite strange in that it doesn't seem to fit with his former life (where he didn't do anything extraordinary). It is as if he magically changed with the isekai to suddenly want to carry out his projects when before he didn't dare. The secondary characters are a bit manga harem where the MC arrives in a dormitory of girls (does he sleep in the same room as them by the way?), but there is no sexual tension and they all behave like brother and sister from the first minutes of their meeting. The situation is a bit strange for me. - jakman999Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0while still on the short side (17 chapters at time) i am thinking this will be a good replacement or reading with the end of azarinth healer coming up. well written and similar concept following a very different path in a new world. i must say i quite like the focus on craftsmanship and diplomacy as it seems well suited to the concept of exploring a world through it's people.
- Chaos JesterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Isekai? Check. LitRPG? Check. Comedy in regard to fashion and general slice of life leading to a heck of an enjoyable fluff piece? You best belief it. Beauty in Simplicity keeps true to its title. This story is simple, and thanks to that, it is absolutely enjoyable to read. And as a comedy, it does something very well. It is funny.
Style is pretty clear. General slice of life in the tune of an isekai'd man (Aeric) being put into a new world with LitRPG elements and then deciding to . . . make fashion. Aeric doesn't do it to spite the adventuring life, but to double down on success using what he can do and what he wants to do to his advantage.
Grammar is clear. The formatting is a little iffy in some place, but nothing jarring or bad enough to take you out of the story. Words are used accurately, sentences make sense. Everything else would just be semantics.
The story itself uses itself to make for a heck of a tale. It loops in casual dialogue to lend to the comedy, while also taking a simple worldbuilding technique and POV switching to give readers what they need to know when they need to know it. Sayl offered us comedy/slice of life and definitely delivered on that promise.
My only real gripe comes in characters. There are so many of them and the majority are introduced at once. The other side of that sword though is that they are kept unique and make you realize how surrounded Aeric is. So as much as my mind was having trouble keeping up, they play their part perfectly. Also, as chapters progress, they seem to be getting one-on-one looks which will help immensely. So don't take this as a knock. You've already found your solution.
Overall, this story is light hearted and funny, and what a good friend of mine would describe as "candy". It's something enjoyable to read, especially if you're looking for something not so dark and dreary. - Crazy117Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0No panic but there is The finding of a new balance in life. Realizing that there is balance in your life is kind of enlightening in and of it's self in real life and without balance usually people are frustrated. The story seems balanced in such a way that if magic existed it could be real there are problems but they don't seem outside of the slice of life genre. All in all it's a nice relaxing story that I'll probably read over and over again through the years.
- DamoklesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The characters are well written and make sense.
No major grammatical errors.
The system is not prevalent and is rather something that lets the MC do what he wants to do, make clothes.
Its got everything a man wants to read about:
Easy flirting, exotic women, dresses, political manouvering, dresses, scantilly clad women, dress making, a lion mother that could probably rip a head from their shoulders and not to forget... dresses!
Give it a look! - David Phillip ZimmerleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Finally. An isekai with crafting where the main character doesn't just go off and have to save the world. A character who actually crafts and enjoys their work. An excellent supporting cast making for an actually fun read. It is so refreshing to find something different for once than the usual save the world centered isekai or even worse the ones with "crafters" who craft maybe once in the whole book.
- DestroyuwRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A relaxing story about friends, fashion and the effects of high level individuals on intercountry politics. *Normal everyday stuff*
5/5 due to relaxing atmosphere, characters that sound like actual people, funny conversations, an interesting leveling system that I have not seen before, and interesting but not overwhelming description of fashion. Definitely worth a try, you would not regret it. - DreameroftheUnknownRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, quite frankly, was not expecting this to be as good as it ended up being. It appeared to be the usual tropes: isekai, litRPG, the likes. But then fashion came into play and I realized: oh! It's a slice of life! Anyway, I really liked this and I'll break exactly why up into the 4 categories.
Style: The style is easy to read and has a nice flow to it. I love just how detailed it is while managing to not drag on too long. It is sometimes a bit of a stretch to get through, but that's only because the chapters are 4k words; if that's your allyway, then you'll love this. There's a ton of different vocabulary used, especially words related to technology and fashion that I didn't know even existed, which shows the author's research and dedication to this book.
Story: It's a quiet and gentle slice of life, a lovely change from the action-packed rapid pace of most litRPGs. The system of the litRPG is also something quite unique because they don't know what skills they got. I particularly enjoyed the fact that isekaied people were actually common knowledge in this new world. It made the setting feel much more realistic and led to some interesting discussions. The idea that the main character is more of a merchant and focused on fashion gives a lot of opportunity for lore and worldbuilding, and the author doesn't miss a single chance, beautifully structuring a world. It's very fluffy, and I have a huge preference for this book over other litRPGs just because the main character is surrounded by girls yet doesn't have them all slobbering over him. Very, very realistic.
Grammar: The vocabulary, as stated before, is good. However, it's the formatting and punctuation where there's a few stuff. The spaces between the paragraphs are a bit inconsistent sometimes; nothing that'll draw you out of the reading experience, but definitely something I noticed. There were also several times where I noticed a stray comma and period missing, but maybe that was me overanalyzing. Everything el
