Description
Imagine a primitive world of bone, hide and stone, with cultivation. Essence is hunted, power is gained through blood.

He will face tribes, kingdoms, killers and beasts, in his journey to reach the summit and beascension..

- Perry OkeefeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5'Beascension' is a fun progression story that follows a budding young man named Teng on his journey into adulthood.
The setting is great. A small, pre-agriculture, human tribe, in an untouched wilderness, surrounded by powerful beasts!
Grammar is nearly perfect, I found two small typos out of 13,000 words, so I'm sure you won't have any issues with the grammar in this story.
The style is what you would expect form such a setting, it matches the story being told well.
The characters started off feeling weaker than I would like to see, but that was quickly remedied as the story continued. So I have no complaints about the characters, and I am excited to watch them develop further.
The story score is my lowest grade at a 4, but that is more because the book is just beginning, not necessarily because the story is lacking. Like I said, its a slow-burn.
One place I would change the story, which is more a matter of personal taste than any sort of legitimate complaint, is when the beast that Teng is using to power himself up literally just fell out of the sky and into his lap. I would prefer to see Teng take some sort of risk, or be forced to make some sacrifice in order to attain the foundation of his power going forward. This is just a matter of taste, and doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the story.
Lastly, I don't love the name, I think "Beast Ascension" would be the better choice. The combined form "Beascension" sounds like Bee Ascension.
I will update my review when we get deeper into the story. Probably around chapter 20 or so.
