Trigger Warning:This story has the 'r word' in it frequently as it is about a special needs adult and his experiences in life, including getting called that word.

Shout Out:Defiance of The FallandRoad to Masteryfor providing me with the basis for 'The System' in this novel. This is just a side project I'm working on that I didn't want to commit to make a whole new LitRPG system for but is slowly becoming my main project, as I'm having a lot of fun writing this.

This story is the quintessential example of a high wisdom low int character. More than that, the portrayal of adults with Down syndrome is unexpectedly on point, capturing the unique blend of adult and childish behaviors and language. They're people rather than caricatures, which is more than I expected. Even if it's early in the story's life, it's a promising start that completely changes the standard system apocalypse that we've all gotten used to.
For anyone concerned that the opening premise will be undone, the author has already locked in that Ethan will forever be just smart enough to read and write. That said, their unique skill lets them temporarily hit others with the "I know you are, but what am I" letting them big brain as needed. Honestly, it's a great setup and the lack of intelligence makes for unexpectedly hilarious actions.
The last thing I'll touch on, is that Ethan is intended to be a little villainous, or at least self-serving without reaching the point where people would dislike him. As it stands, he's taken his nemesis-pal for a joyride on his sick motorcycle, invented the buddy system, and accidentally committed what I think might be a war crime. I found it to be genuinely entertaining and have high hopes for this wise little trickster's future.
