So far a good slice of life story about a mage who gets thrown into the modern world blending the two together.
Overall I give the story a 4.5 as it is greater than the sum of its parts and has good potential if some minor issues are fixed 10 chapters is simply not enough to go off of at this point, so far it is a good start.
The style of the story is somewhat confusing as the author alternates between lighthearted and brutal in a somewhat jarring fashion partway through, and while not unwelcome it feels out of place as the incident is so isolated from the rest of the story. So 4 stars as it does fit in the overall narrative and has a purpose in the story but jarring nonetheless.
The story is pretty well written with few grammatical/spelling errors and when they do occur they don’t detract significantly from the story nor do they make it hard to read or understand what is going on. As the author is not a native English speaker this is a well done work 4.5 stars.
The story is clear and easy to follow with the exception of the pacing. The passage of time is unclear and the pacing is too fast the story seems to move at a breakneck pace for the beginning here at the expense of some character development and world building. This issue seems to be clearing up as the story progresses and I would consider the character development to be slow burn for now. There are other arcs going on in the background that might turn out to be interesting for the story’s drive but have not come anywhere close to fruition so far. 4 stars the pacing makes the story’s timeline somewhat confusing but for now it doesn’t affect the overall narrative.
The characters are probably the weakest part of the story as there is little to no information in the beginning as to why they are doing the things they are doing or about who they are. This also seems to be trending in the right direction with further information in latter chapters but I would have liked to see mor - Liaol18Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I continue to enjoy the story with some hit and miss for me I really like calian now, he has more depth than he used to.
Melody continue to be a good caracter even if I hope she changes direction as she is getting sort of annoying, she feels no longer necessary but it's as if she added herself forcefully to the story,
Alexander seems like he has a lot of potential as a caracter but I hope he will get more developed as the story continues.
If he sticks to hus come and go apperances i might be disappointed.
The writing is still great and does not feel too heavy even when you're tired.
Anyway, great work hope it continues this well, and nicely done by the author
Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my primary language - SaiphRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Review Swap
For an author whose first language isn’t english, it’s a resonably well written story. There’s the occasional error but, with rare exceptions, they don’t get in the way of reading. I certainly couldn’t write this well in French, and the vocab used is quite varied.
The author has aimed for a balance of fast-pace and slice of life chapters. This is a difficult thing to pull off well and I’m not sure it’s quite worked out, paticularly in the earlier chapters. The tone variation can feel a little jarring at times, although it does seem to be smoother in later chapters. Some of the events in the earlier chapters feel a bit rushed, or skipped over, and it would have been nice to see a bit more of the details of Calian’s first few days and more casual interactions with Melody. It’s hard to follow exactly how much time is passing which also makes it difficult to get a proper feel for what the relationship between the two main characters is really like.
Quality is varied, with some paragraphs needing quite a bit more work to make flow or feel less repetitive, while others are beautifully written hidden gems. I paticularly liked the one from the perspective of the cat. There is some improvement in the later chapters as well.
The story seems interesting. There is certainly some promise of intriguing things to come. The complementation of science and magic works well. The glimpses back into the world Calian left behind are paticularly entertaining, and add a lot of humour to the story.
The characters are probably the weakest part of the story. There are glimpses of good characterisation underneath but it doesn’t always come through in the actions or the dialogue. Most of the interesting information about the characters tends to be presented through explanations of the charaters thoughts. This, like other things, may improve as the story continues. - Gabriel_MuerteRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5It is a good story.
I like that sometimes there is a comparation between magic and the laws of physic and is funny the reactions from Melody.
It is a grounded story where there is a good amount of details but sometimes this can be a little boring, the problem is that it has a lot of details on more basic things sometimes is good sometimes no so if you want a story with lots of details and a good world building where even if there is "mysteries" like in the beginning where we don't know why the reason Calian teleported
(I didn't really everything yet so I don't know if there is already an explanation but by the flow of the story probably this will only be revealed in a good moment in the future)
but we have an idea of what happened
(involvement of gods/divine beings)
it isn't really comfirmed that it is this.
But to me it's not my cup of tea, I like it but it's not something I would read a lot in a single moment and is more something that I woul read when I am "in the mood" for something more grounded.
