While the reader does not need to have watched a single episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra to appreciate the beauty in Avatar: The Wild Lands; the author has encompassed why we loved these stories on the first place: the rich characters, the comedic adventures and the fantastic worldbuilding that made us feel like we were discovering a world along the characters.
The style is dynamic and barebones when it comes to descriptions. They are kept to the essential and the author leaves us to imagine the rest.
It's with the characters and story that this novel truly shines. The tale of Hadi / Verano de Sforza, a boy who is given to the sea in a basket by a hopeless mother with the hopes that he'll survive and change the world, has a biblical grandeur to it. Verano himself, however, is still a boy. He struggles with his position of Avatar. While the protection of his friends and family motivated him to find his powers from the very beginning, he realistically struggles with the expectations from those around him. Thankfully, The Wild Lands feature a colourful cast of characters with their own goals and personality that helps Verano whenever he needs. The story is great whenever they are around and it falters whenever they are not there (I love Candorra!). Fortunately, the author's fast paced storylines guarantee that we'll never be stuck with the same thing for a long time.
There are typos here and there. But you won't have to re-read a sentence twice to understand what is going on. The two episodes / week schedule has not been friendly to in-depth editing.
The author also gives a lot of support for new readers like Arc Summaries that allow you to skip arcs completely and jump straight to the next episode. And for those readers that can't get enough of the Wild Lands, there are also Lore Specials that are as rich in characters and mystery as the episodes themselves.
Most importantly, it's November 2nd. Happy Birthday, Pat!
    Hope you like my

I'm usually a super skeptic when reading fan-fictions, and I know that's wrong of me.
I'm just so glad that Media in Sanity has proven my lack of faith wrong! This is such a fascinating story. 5/5, I look forward to every release, even going so far as to keep myself up late at night to get myself caught up.

A wonderful story set in the recognizable world of Avatar.
I expected a legend of Korra spinoff, but nothing prepared me for the depth of wordlbuilding and the intensity of MiSanity's characters.
The story is both beautiful and compelling with all your favourite bending styles. While there are some spelling and grammatical errors, they are minor as well as being few and far between.
This story has everything I could ask for, up to and including a baker with a weird cabbage obsession.

I came into this book after meeting the author and seeing his passion for writing firsthand, but nothing compared me for the depth of the story I found.  Although I never have read the original fiction, I found the book straightforward enough for me to grasp and understand without it.
The grammar is impeccable, with a few minor problems, but still probably far better than my own.
The rich style of writing gripped me from the very first page.  I'm not used to such a fast pace, as someone mentioned below, but the pace is perfect for the story that it's in.  The details are facinating and very hooking, and the insight that the author offers about the world and how it works is facinating.
The story is really, really suspenseful, as well as very emotional.  It had me on a rollar coaster of emotion all throughout the story, crying at the sad parts and laughing at the happy ones.  It really grabbed me, and gave me a sense of fulfillment as I watched Verano and all of the other many characters, and travelled through the story hand in hand with them.
And I've saved the best for last- the characters are incredible.  This is the first 'five stars' I've ever given on this site to be honest, and I don't feel a shred of regret.  The emotion inside of them, the well defined reactions, the really, really deep feelings that all of them seem to have- they're immensely beautiful.  And it's amazing for me to see.

First off let me say, you don't have to just read/like/watch anything from the Last Air Bender to Legend of Korea to the companion comics to love this.
A story of it's own The Wild Lands could be called Original Fiction if you truly wanted to. With a main character who was unknowingly orphaned for his destiny, you are thrust into a very different world than we long time fans have known. Barons, Nobles, Crule Masters; they all have a place here in the universe of the wild lands.
Though I don't usually read this type of fiction that much anymore as a fanfiction writer myself I knwp it's hard to be reckongized as a true writer as stupid as that sounds but this is...it's own universe.

This fiction, while it does have elements from Avatar, such as bending and the Avatar, it is set in the distant future after the ending of The Legend of Korra and makes almost no references to the shows, and has no spoilers, at least none that I have seen. If you are a fan of Avatar or if you aren't, you might like this. It has fighting, people who can control fire, water, air and earth with their minds.

This would be a good fiction, but you go through plot points and character development so fast that it just feels fake. there hasnt been a single point in the story where icould get involved and see it as its own world. you introduce new ideas and try to flesh out characters at the speed of light, and at the same time try to speed through his travels (with the army and captured by the northerners where im at) for no other reason it seems than because you want to finish the story early, or at least this portion of the story, i dont know what you plan for its length. slow the story down, let the characters interact with each other more so that when they do something it doesnt feel like theyre just doing something because thats what you decided their character should be like. the original avatar was either 40 or 60 episodes long, and the development of the plot and characters was very dense and well written. this story, on the other hand, feels overfilled, like you tried to copy what they did in the show and messed it up; it really shows too, there wasnt a single point where i was immersed in the world or even felt anything for the characters. your spelling needs some work too, but thats besides the point
