The year 2030 was the year the downfall to humanity began.

Moving the human species far down the food chain.

Finally reaching a peaceful age on earth, We were deeply unprepared for what had come. Large rifts opened in a majority of the world's cities.... In the beginning they were pretty harmless, They spread in popularity across the internet and news channels within a few hours of appearing. Everyone knew of them.

Soon after the government cornered them off.

Posting guard stations around them and making sure most civilians stayed back… it stayed like that for around 48 hours before it happened… A large stampede of monsters spilled from each of them. Each portal releasing its own type of hell… we were no match for them… are guns stood no chance. They slaughtered everyone… man, woman, child. Taking over the cities and fighting it out for territory with one another. We were no longer the only intelligent beings inhabiting earth. Humans were reduced to herds that traveled in pacts fearing for their lives.

Others developed the smaller towns and  turned them into safe havens hoping that nothing would attack them. Too fearful to leave their walls.

Food sources became low and most animals evolved at rapid rates to survive. Become more deadly or figuring out new ways to hide.

The survivors called itThe Calling.

Within a few months, some humans began to awaken new abilities or skills that could help them with life or to hunt… Almost everyone was given the ability to see a type of screen that displayed your status to you. Invisible to others, but some could even develop skills to sneak a peek at it without you even noticing.

It became even more like a game…

While it was rather covenant and very helpful we had no idea where it came from… nor did we understand its limits. Some thought it was the last gift given to us from the gods, others thought it was human-evolution for survival.  But nobody can say for sure.

Many were afraid to use it at first but most began using it in their daily lives, Normally people never developed any powerful skills. But those who did,  Set up multiple clans built of groups of parties under a single leader they called a “King”. Each given their own territory to watch and guard over some of the last refuge of the human species.
