With the bloodless war, the Chinese occupied the rest of the United States and renamed it to the American Autonomous Zone. But even with a new flag and new technologies, some American things never change.

    The different short stories with different characters is so enticing to keep reading onto the next chapter. The attention to detail with the dialogue interactions of the characters as well as having some background is really amazing. It’s fascinating to see the characters intertwine from chapter to chapter. The author must have put great thought when developing the story building.

    The writing is competent and the setting interesting, but the author leans a bit too much on video game tropes. And the protagonist feels so powerful that there as much tension in the encounters. Furthermore, she feels a bit wooden since she has no emotional reaction to all the killings. I will be interested to see how the story develops.
