For those who can't be bothered to read the entire review: great read, full send if you enjoy steam punk-like narratives. Can best describe the story as Victorian-era steampunk in space!
Okay, let's get into it. The author does a magnificent job with the plague. From descriptive word choice to exposition by dialogue, and setting, the authors set us up within a mysterious empire that spans the cosmos. A mysterious object is discovered within the clutches of presumably the enemy, and a plan which has taken decades to brew unfolds.
The first chapter puts us in the shoes of Asahi, a prince of a neutral faction within a struggle that has challenged the empire. He is joined by the mysterious Ayana, and the himbo Dahak (best way I can describe him, I truly enjoy this character)
The dialogue is thick however I believe in the author and I think this story will go far!
Style: the action is quick, the lines are short and witty, and the exposition is on point. 10/10
Story: mysterious, concise, and really pulls the reader along without holding their hand. 10/10
character: each player on stage is layered, unique, and truly an example of the planets they come from. I feel that the author uses each character's unique personality as a vehicle to portray the family/world they come from. well done, 10/10!
Overall: fantastic, I look forward to more!
