Description
The rewrite of the story is in continuationHere.
Han Xuhan, our protagonist, is an ordinary mortal orphan who sets out on a journey to become immortal by joining a sect.
Turns out he might not be our protagonist.Aaaand, his journey might have been fabricated. Also, it seems like he isn't really an ordinary mortal.Oh, who am I kidding? It's obvious at this point. That entire first sentence was a lie. Let us pretend that sentence doesn't exist there.Sadly, he hasn't exactly been informed of that fact. So we get to watch him trudge on his path as a cultivator. How long will he survive in a xianxia world by relying only on his dao of meta?Oh? Does that plot feel predictable?Fine! Let us pretend the dao of meta doesn't exist either; such a simple solution to a simple problem, unlike the issues Han Xuhan shall face from the get-go.

- pranderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very good novel that I would strongly recommend to at least give a chance.
The story isn't for everyone; especially the typical fan of the progression lit genre where it's expected that that there'll be plenty of fights, face slapping, and wish fullfillment. There are fights. However the highlight is the character interaction, the humor, the mystery and the schemes.
To expand a bit on the good points:
* The character setup and interaction is wonderful. The MC being someone that has to help the cliched protagonist is pretty refreshing and their friendship is really likeable and fun to read. Actually, all the characters are really likeable.
* Love the schemes. Everybody's scheming all the time. It's fantastic. It's not just mindless fluff where two people are shooting their sword lasers at each other.
* The grammar is very good and I think the author has done really well to develop a unique voice.
* A lot of the humor works very well, especially the random comments by the crowds.
I am going to rate it 5 stars because I really want to see this novel succeed. But there are some flaws that I think are worth mentioning:
1. The biggest one is that there are parts where too much is happening and it's hard to follow. The novel is highly meta, includes elements of sci-fi and fantasy, multiple systems, and veiled world building. Early on they're in a forest and there's a fight between two people and it's easy to follow. In the latest arc there's a few chapters where the setting involves a castle, jets of water, various walls and it's really difficult to picture what's going on.
2. There are certain times when something confusing happens and an explanation doesn't come much later - often unnecessarily late because it doesn't affect the plot by revealing it later.
3. Minor point: One or two too many characters feel like they're too quippy or humours. It's definitely the style of the novel and sometimes it works well but sometimes it it falls flat.
4. Another minor point: There's - DrDreamcaseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like this story so far. I read it in one afternoon to chapter 38 because it intrigued me so much.
The main character is a human of a xianxia world who on his day of ingraduation into a sect learns that he might be someones incarnation.
The main character is a bloody genious and i like that he uses his brain.
The world he is thrown into is full of the generic protag types which irk the wrong nerves in me.
Overall bloody good. Definitely would recommend. Half a star to see where the future leads.
Edit: Now 5 Stars because the author deserves it. The story is hillarious and the plot twists interesting. - FallenMarionettRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0ok, so i found it on trending before i went to bed, and now ive pulled an all nighter. it was so worth it. i love the whay its written, and the comidic tone is hilarious! let this underling tell you: our protagonist is a dragon among men! filler filler
- KZURoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really love it. Han Xuhan is such a fun character. The plot twists are always fun and the minions always make crack a smile. My only criticism would be a lot of stuff is happening all at once, plots and strategies are piling up and it makes everything unfocused and convoluted and payoffs aren't as satisfying. Please slow down a bit. Anyways created a account just to rate it.
- LEGITPRO 123Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the mc and i think the authors done a very good job of making him genuinely smart instead of just using asspulls. However, sometimes he does ramble on a bit which i think could be mitigated.
The other characters are all also very good, and i like the fact that the story is a mish mash of several different tropes of the genre. - QueenInRagsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0THE FIRST CHAPTER SUCKS !!!
BUT THE REST IS PURE GOLD !!!
I'm shocked ..... This novel turned out to be pretty damn good. For some reason, In the past, I kind of brushed by it a few times, turned off by the first chapter I had always tossed it to the side and went to read something else. But after giving everything that's out currently and binging through all the chapters ??? It became a pretty damn good book, and spin on the whole cultivation genre.
10/10 Author great job !!! - ShonenGandalfRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0What makes this so awesome is the MC intelligence.
This may sound arrogant but it is rare for me to find a story here where the MC does not have terrible decision making skills.
And smart MC's are my favourite MC.
The MC is so shrewed and cunning.
Give it a read. - TrueCipresRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Edit: I am updating the grammar score because I have seen a marked improvement.
Before getting to my opinion and why I give 5 starts overall, I will like to point out this is not a Novel for people looking for a main character waltzing trough all things with ease; our MC is more a clever manipulator than a prodigy of cultivation in the traditional sense; he has no cheat, nor dedicated master. This is a slow boil of a story, and great for those that enjoy that kind of content. Do not go into the novel expecting somebody to easily run laps around thousand year old cultivators; everybody is quite sharp and dangerous in this word. The start of the novel is specially slow, It takes our MC some time to get used to everything and for his character to shine.
That said, I found this novel to be exactly what I was looking for, exactly when I was looking for it. A Xianxia, filled with comedy, sarcasm, irony, all the types of main characters you could think of, and all it's tropes heads up, yet, ironically, in many ways played straight.
So, we do get an MC advancing trough cultivation, but it's with wit and careful consideration that he gets trough life, after a very rocky start while catching his breath, because he did NOT win the Main Character lottery in this case, quite the contrary even; The privilege of being the "winner" was reserved for a myriad of "main characters" of many kinds that work as great side characters and drive the story forward as well (even though so far we met only a few). It's worth the mention, though, that as the author points out, each character is a bit more complicated that just "A main character type" or "Side character type", they do have their motivations and there is always a reason why they are where they are. So far, we have three character whose "cheats" we had gotten to know, and we are far from knowing all about their circumstances.
Style:
As said before, a slow boil with comedic tones that underline a cultivation world that's a scam or be - anapRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far it's been a blast to read tbh
While I hear the first 20 chapters are bad(personally didn't have a problem with them) it starts getting so much better after that, tho I wouldn't recommend skipping it.
The main character doesn't come I to the world with cheats or even talent The man's cultivation life is basically on hard mode so he has to be intelligent about how he goes about things, including fights(or knowing he need to gtfo out of dodge, which is pretty often)
And the other characters are also pretty good, I think they're pretty fleshed out.
Also it has those moments that get me to laugh which is a plus - Ao VerusRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Ashes of Heaven is one of the better cultivation novel, it is refreshing read, there are no cliche cultivation troupes which many novels follows and the interaction between its multiple leads are refreshing, the world and its protagonist still keeps a sense of mystery honestly waiting for author to unravel it.
