Asheron's Fall: The Power of Ten, Book Six
Community Rating
Description
Finished the Royal Road Writathon Challenge for April and November 2024, and April 2025!
This story is complete at 518 chapters, ending May 1, 2025.
The sixth of Aelryinth's soul shards is floating free, being brought down and into another world where the Power of Ten doesn't exist... but the magic there is changing, the world is in flux, and for some reason, an experienced gamer might just fit right in with the natives and strange magic of this place.
A story derived from much of (but not all!) the rich lore and history of the Asheron's Call game. Callouts to all my former gamer friends and Allegiance members on Leafcull! We take up the story when the servers collapsed and the world went down, and what exactly happened after that?...

- notna455Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A great book like all the others on Royal Road. Not my favorite of the books but a great book nonetheless. Having not played Asheron’s Call I'm not as invested in the setting but the writing, characters and power system make up for all of that. I recommend reading the authors other books as well.
- Gale ProphetRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Impressive story, lots of fun changes and advancements from the source material that made this feel like a unique story.
I loved how the story handled the intersection of realism coming from a video game with video game logic.
Another great kingdom building story with plenty of classic sword and sorcery and power up gaming aspects. - Grimmjow12Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Thank you Re Druin for creating another story at the high level you are used to, I am making my review as we reach the final chapters of the story, looking forward to the next one. I didn't know AF as a setting at the start, but it has some nice lore thanks for letting me know another world.
- maxverstappenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Although it was a difficult story to start off on, as time passed I became more and more entranced by the plot. One of my favorite parts was when Ryin was faced with the rogue virindi, being pushed into paralysis. The show of powerlessness is unique to this story, with the other PoT books showcasing a constant feeling of an inevitable win. 10/10 would recommend
- DioDabaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you love (or even just have a mild interest in) fantasy and d'n'd then you will find youself loosing countless hours to the amazing stories of the Power of Ten series. this latest addition is already shaping up to be outstanding.
This is an incredible addition to the already vast plot of the Power of ten which never falls below the astronomically high standard of quality and craftsmanship of our spectacular author.
RE Druin has produced millions of words that craft an incredible world, universe and multiverse across these stories however each of the books here on Royal Raod can be taken individually without prior exposure (though it might take a bit to adjust to the detailed style).
There are 5 more and a book series!!!!
If you have any interest i recommend starting with the orginal books then progressing to the Royal Road series, there all very much worth the read!! - KryptonHDRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just started to read book 6 recently after letting some chapters piled up, like usual went for Patreon for support and for more chapters.
The Universe this shard finds itself in is Asheron's Call and old MMORPG game I personally had never heard of before so reading and seeing the setting is exciting bringing in many races not seen before and another system to work through.
So far have loving this book just like the previous ones and have been having fun reading it looking forward to the full journey through the world of Asheron's Call and seeing how it turns out looking for to more
Thanks for the excellent work as always 5/5 for me. - Marcus3213Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm really looking forward to this one. And it's looking awesome so far!
Power of Ten books are always great. Legendary is just earlygame for these characters. The worldbuilding goes so hard you start rewriting your own stuff.
Another soul shard means another deep dive into Arcane and Heaven magic. There's probably Evil lurking somewhere
Time to exploit some local Rules, and do some Good! - TuliusIIRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just as the others entrances of this series we get a powerful wizard using the D&D system to beat back a hostile world with its own rules. Great combat in general and really interesting system, even the modifications made from the source material are a nice adition to the worldbuilding of the novel.
It's still in the early stages but its almost 100% sure that the novel will be finished and everyday you will get a chapter. You just cannot get enought of the well developed plot and the rarely seen consistency.
Great deal of nostalgia for anyone who played AF as well, really looking foward to the adaptation. - SunlossRoyal Road★★ 2.0I rarely give poor reviews and enjoyed the original PoT, as well as most of the Sama story. Reading the rest of the reviews here, I didn't see any that warned people how lacking in story this story is.
If you are unfamiliar with asherons call, you will likely find yourself bored, confused or both. After 300 chapters there's been little story progression, the majority of the text filled with long winded rehashes of PoT mechanics, asherons call mechanics, or how they combine. Given that the first 150 chapters is basically a repeat of mechanics that are described in detail in previous books of the series, it can be quite tedious to get through.
The story doesn't really seem to have much character development or story theme, besides visiting a few dungeons to describe more mechanics. It was quite painful to trudge through characters describing in detail dungeons from a video game.
Unlike some of the other Sama series that you can skip over the mechanics and calculations, there's only about 20 chapters of story here.
In short, I highly recommend skipping this novel and wait for the next in the series. If the pattern of previous books follows, we will be able to jump in without much loss. - Just4jestRoyal Road★ 0.5Another OP MC story where the numbers go up, but nothing really happens for you to feel like someone is doing anything other than playing a video game from outside the character, rather than feeling immersed in the character and what is going on. There is essentially no dialogue, which is typical of these power of 10 stories. (In this case I am counting dialogue as being an actual conversation between two people. Here's the breakdown of dialogue that has happened just in the first 4 chapters of the story:
Chapter 1
~2000 words in the chapter. There are ~160 words of dialogue if you're being generous and counting the pre-recorded message. If you don't, there are just 3 words of dialogue that happen in the whole chapter:
“Wagh!”
“Be Gone”
Chapter 2
~2000 words in the chapter, 0 words of dialogue
Chapter 3
2120 words in the chapter, 0 words of dialogue
Chapter 4
1686 words in the chapter, 103 words of dialogue, 53 of them used up on the MC just introducing themselves…to the voice in their head...
So to recap, 5 chapters in, you've read ~8,000 words. A typical fantasy novel has approximately 90,000 words in it, so you're close to 10% through the book, and there have been a grand total of ~270 words of dialogue that have happened.
