Description

Through millennia, humanity’s saga unfolds as a tale of triumph and tragedy, bound by an eternal struggle against forces both internal and cosmic. Beginning with the ancient city of Atlantis, this epic journey follows the bloodlines of two legendary figures — Bergelmir and Odin, both cousins while latter is consumed by envy. Their rivalry births a conflict that spans eons, shaping the destiny of all mankind.

In the golden age of Atlantis, humanity attains unimaginable wisdom and longevity. But beneath the city lies an ancient evil, an insidious force from before time that Odin discovers and binds himself to, sealing a dark pact that will haunt humanity forever. When the prophesied cataclysm strikes, Atlantis is lost and the survivors scatter: Bergelmir leads a remnant to safety, while Odin’s followers plunge into the depths, forming a society driven by hatred and vengeance, known as the Army of Darkness.

One thing that immediately caught my attention was how "clean" the grammar is! Solid. No major issues. Sentences are structured clearly. The word choices are formal, complex, and rich, matching the story's high stakes. With that, the writing uses vivid imagery, especially when describing Atlantis. This makes the world feel alive and even... exotic!
If you want something serious and weighty to read, this story is highly recommended!
It discusses how society becomes complacent despite warnings from the past, which makes it relevant to current issues that ignore science and history, with approaching cataclysm creating suspense.
However, some aspects don't work for me because the pacing feels too slow. From what I've read so far, it focuses heavily on setting up the world, characters, and internal struggles—like Bergelmir's grief, Aryabhata's warnings, and Atlantis's beauty. But the actual danger remains theoretical.
On the positive side, the detailed setup adds weight to the world and characters, so it could feel much more impactful when the conflict finally happens, as we keep engaged with the question: What will happen to Atlantis?
That said, this is purely my personal taste.
Because, you know, this story is clearly high fantasy! You're introduced to ancient prophecies (the "Knowledge of the Elders") combined with Aryabhata's scientific approach to star charts. This slow introduction is necessary for stories that use this genre to make it more impactful! The characters also have emotional depth, like the father-son relationship between Bergelmir and Haldor.
So, I strongly recommend taking time to "savor" this story slowly. Feel the rich spices and layers of flavor in its world. Because with this slow-burn tension, I'm confident all the mysteries will be worth the wait!
