Arknights: A Messenger's Healing (A Provence x Tacet sequel novel)
Community Rating
Description
The end came and went for humanity of old. An uncontrollable spark that quickly raged out of control. Tacet was there to see it. He lived and fought through it all, and in the process he lost all of his friends and suffered greatly. As the Great End came he closed his eyes, never expecting to wake up again, not even desiring to.
Untold years pass, and he is awakened to his surprise in a world he could not recognise anymore. The last true human emerged to explore the plagued world of Terra. To find new purpose in a world dominated by the once emergent races that he fought. With this new world he came to realise of a great conflict within himself.
The wolf type mutant race that he fought now evolved to what humanity failed to achieve. Stable human-animal hybrids. He met for the first time the refined race now known as lupos. His enemy of old now turned into graceful creatures that brought great strife within him.
How will he reconcile his feelings in the face of the reckless and deadly lupo's of Rhodes Island?

- NoctierRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I feel like I should preface the review by stating that I have approached the novel with a dose of skepticism, as I knew nothing of the Arknights beforehand and thus had to conduct some research alongside my reading journey. I have been asked to read the fiction and give my honest opinion from a completely neutral and unbiased point of view.
STYLE: The style is quite similar to what I am used to reading in comfort, decent and familiar in the wording and expressions used. There was a time or two where I have figured that the expression used might have been misplaced in the heat of writing or the lack of remembrance of the correct term at the given moment. The paragraphs were in order, though I've often lost myself in the dialogue sections as they were written in an unorthodox fashion and I was left back tracing to figure out which character was speaking at certain points.
GRAMMAR: The grammar was mostly correct. At times the mistakes were the writer's, at other times it might easily have been the auto-correcting software. One could deduct, after reading for a while, that English is not the author's first language. This, however, shows their aptitude and willingness to improve their knowledge and quality of writing in the future.
STORY: The story itself showed a continuous flow, depicting various aspects of life of the world within without straying too much from the subject. The beginning and the end were actually well done and that is what keeps the whole story together. Some parts in the middle felt redundant, potentially sacrificing other, more important parts, however, they did not take from the overall plot, so no damage was done besides some extra reading time required.
CHARACTERS: As far as I have researched the genre canon, I believe that the author had stayed true to the nature of the established Arknights characters. The immersion of the main character into that universe did not feel forced and the dynamic between the characters as well as the interaction be
