Archmage of Wonder

Vonna is beautiful in the mornings, and calm in the evenings.

Magic pours across Vonna, to feed the monsters, to empower the smart, to nurture the people. Some grow stronger, larger, and deadlier. Others torture themselves with delusions of grandeur that they can never achieve. The rest define themselves by the growth of their communities and the strength of their people. They must, because Vonna is a world of endlings. It’s already on the brink of its next ending. What will it be this time? May it be ice tumbling from the heavens? Might it be the power of some strange magical beast? Maybe, it’s a mage who seeks ruination.

Allay is a teenager from the quaint village of Rivaelet, taught magic by his mother, he seeks to change the world, but he has time for that later; so, why not use now for a bit of fun? Pulling pranks with Ophelia, playing games of wit with Ulfred, and hunting monsters with both is what he really wants to do. Yet, when memories of another life flood into him, he can’t help but find himself changing.

Allay won’t die without making a name for himself. Machines of magical might, wonders of mechanical indifference, and answers to worldly mysteries. Any of these would give Allay a name, all of them would make him a legend. Allay will make himself the greatest mage to have ever lived, an Archmage of the highest status.

In fact, Death doesn’t have to be the end.

Story note:

Archmage of Wonders is a story about creation. The main character will use a semi-realistic magic system to create magical wonders and explore how they impact the world around him. Some might be horrific, others ingenious and revolutionary, and some might be wonderful. (There are three different types of magical artifacts that I have envisioned. Ones mainly used in discovery and magical research. Ones used for war defense or combat. And ones used for incredible purposes. An example for each is a device to view mana currents, a defensive weapon to destroy large targets, and a massive floating city. Some of which will come earlier than later.)

It will be a slow burn book, but every creation will make him stronger. It pushes the story forward and makes each device have weight. There will include heavy amounts of politics, relationships, and emotional turmoil.

This story is a passion project of mine, so expect heavy amounts of reworks and rewrites. For example, this right here, is a rewrite. It was originally written 6/10/2025, but I have realized that I can make a better synopsis. Hopefully, it will allow more people to give it a chance. My current plan is to release a chapter every two weeks, but I am not holden to that. Which means, I might post a chapter earlier or later depending on the number of rewrites I plan to do. Anyways, if you read this, thank you.
