Description
The shadow of greatness is flooded with the limelight.
In ages past, the world was wracked with changes, flooded with monsters while humanity gained the power of the gods. Yet that is the past. The present is filled with youngsters desperately attempting to grow to the heights of the original heroes, while old monsters in human skin struggle for supremacy, and daring explorers search the cosmos for dangerous things to poke with sticks.
As the younger brother of one of the most famous trailblazers, Derek Thoma is expected to become strong or die trying. And when is older brother returns from outer space, the pressure only intensifies, even as centuries-old threats rear their ugly heads.
Can Derek climb to the heights only reached by ancient heroes, or will he be crushed under the weight of expectations and hostile forces?
Apocalypse Continuum is the sequel to Apocalypse Redux, but can be read without knowing anything about the first series.
The first series is currently onAmazon(and Kindle Unlimited, and Audible too)!
There are also multiple sidestories, including unpublished World Boss battles and AU stories, which can be found as a separate fiction (on RR as well).

- zMultiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm a sucker for LitRPG's simply due to "big number go high, make me happy." But this is one of the few LitRPG's were the system isn't the focus.
It's a classic 'second chance' type of novel, except with a heavy emphasis on that no one man can stop the apocolypse. Our MC is doing his best to develop humanity's understanding of the system before they fuck everything up.
He's still strong, but he's not grinding 24/7, his personal strength is the second priority. Now, that might seem boring or uninteresting, but it's not! I can't put it into words, but this is one of the few series on Royal Road that I read daily as opposed to binge reading.
So with all that said. Where's the f**king patreon!? - MathewRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I great read. The MC is relatable and seems to really want to get the rest of humanity win in this new world. The world and site charators are well though out and easy to relate to.
Well worth the read if you like system stories and MC that use thier head. - SteelTippedLegoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very interesting twist for how monsters are brought into the world. Main character seems intelligent yall knowing athough hes from the future. Characters seem to hold some weight both to him and the the story. Although he does have an edgelord stealth rogue build i dont fault thoma for sticking to hus roots to guarantee strength they trying someone elses strategy. Overall a solid novel so far and i cant wait to come back after a backlog of chapters is built up.

sorry just making it 50 words long as I cant think of anything else to say as of now - TwistedVanityRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Basic review. I'm a fan of LitRPG, and I am really enjoying this spin on the genre. The MC was the last human in a world brought to an apocalyptic end by the hidden dangers of the new system. He's given the chance to return in time to the point where the system was first introduced to the world and will hopefully use his advanced knowledge to make subtle changes and save humankind. For me this is a new and refreshing angle to these books, the system integrates with the world slowly, there is more thinking and introspection. There is research and study. Its a gradual build up, not a suddenly OP character. And his advantages are understandable, he's been through this before, not like other books where the MC has constant miraculous luck to find major powerful items every time he needs them. It is a slower book than many in this genre, but it feels more thought out and considered. It is also a new perspective (at least for me) to the genre that is immensely enjoyable. I've read to chapter 15 so far and would highly recommend this book to anyone.
- lpyle1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0One thing I really enjoy about this novel is the relaxed aspect. Without giving too much away, the novel follows the "system apocalypse" genre, while still keeping aspects of normal life. Furthermore, while this is a "restart" novel, the main character doesn't act as a OP Leader who must save humanity on his own. Instead we have someone who works with others, and uplifts humanity from the backround.
I rarely notice any grammatical errors, and the characters are pretty fleshed out. One problem I have with some of the novels I read on Royal Road is all the characters over time begin to have the same tone. In this novel I have yet to notice this.
I highly reccomend giving this novel a shot, if you either like slow burner novels, or System Apocalypse novels. - one wondersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story has several aspects that have been growing on me. It starts off with an unusual twist where the protagonist is trying to work with bureaucracy instead of just bludgeoning through power or might makes right etc. I love how research and science is an aspect of this story considering it's primarily about magic. So hand waving doesn't just make the issues go away. The author is very familiar with German culture and shares little tidbits now and then which add to the story's flavor. It has grinding sessions and leveling and the usual things but it's got a lot more and I find myself really looking forward to it. It has a heavier focus on teamwork and planning than usual.
- theodiciesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Man, I am digging this one. While, there are very minor spelling or grammar mistakes, the storytelling is top notch. The system mechanics are well thought out and do not drown out the story. I am really looking forward to where the story goes next since the timeline has been changed so much.
- AthyriumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0How is this series not one of the top recommendations on this site!?!
It absolutely deserves to be. I've been a fan of this genre for *years* and only just heard of it a few days ago. I binged all three books on Kindle Unlimited, and the 100+ chapters on Royal Road in less than week. I have no idea how people are sleeping on this gem.
It's incredibly well written, even the chapters on Royal Road have very few typos and the grammar is good. Not a lot to say there, it's on the same level as all the top recommendations.
The progression is extremly satisfying, and the MC is OP with out being ridiculous or unbelievable while taking a pretty unique path to power.
There is a real plot. I can't stress this enough, there is actually a plot beyond just gaining power. There is actually an end point in sight for the series. It doesn't seem like there is any risk of it becoming one of those stories that just continues forever with no real plot or ending even hinted at.
The system and class evolutions are unique enough to stand on their own, but not so far out that it's hard to follow. I'd say the system is most similar to the system from Primal Hunter, but with its own unique twists. There are plenty of skill upgrades as well as really unique classes that are rarely explored in this genre.
The world building it fantastic. It's dark without being hopeless, and is laid out in an extremly logical manner. It's our world, but changed by the system, and wow did the author do a good job of portraying how that would effect the world and its people from politics to the economy, all the way to restaurants and schools.
Where this series is an absolute stand out is the characters though. The characters are absolutely 10/10. They are believable, flawed, and yet still likeable. They have depth and relationships that don't all revolve around the MC. They are intelligent and have their own goals and motivations. The MC himself has actual depth. The things he goes through change him, and he has - CrackferretRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just finished the last chapter and I must say this was a good one. The story was well though out and the system made sense.
The fight scenes where easy to follow and the MC had believable motivations and experienced character growth both emotionally and as a leader of people.
It was a fairly standard redo the apocalyse story but it stands out because it actually had an ending and for the consistant writing.
If you enjoy redo stories I would recommend you "reado" this one.
