But they underestimated me.

I wasn’t just a virean. I was a soulmancer—a breaker of chains, both mental and spiritual.

And death was never going to be the end of my story.

Iskar. That was the name he received in his last incarnation, but also the identity of the spirit who touched the Origin and paid the price. Power and curse entwined, Iskar escaped the Underworld long before he was supposed to.

To return, he struck a deal: becoming one of the Ten Death Angels, tasked with hunting lost souls and keeping the balance. That was his ticket back to the mortal realm.

But Iskar was still just a spirit in need of a body. Had to find one. Eden—a weaker fragment of the same concept was the perfect target.

Now, I walk among the living once more. But freedom isn’t what I thought it would be.

Nuvans—those born without flux—cling to survival through technology, genetic tampering, and raw desperation.

The system doesn’t care about any of this. It watches, indifferent, as lives rise and fall in an endless cycle of reincarnation. It’s a brutal, ceaseless way of evolution—factions rise, alliances crumble, and planets are bought, sold, and devoured.

Love and peace? They are relics of a past long forgotten, drowned beneath greed, corruption, and illusion. As gates open, warriors, explorers, and conquerors clash for dominance.

I don’t want to rule. I don’t care about their empires, their power, or their petty ambitions.

All I want is to be free. To carve out a place that is mine and mine alone.

But in a universe ruled by a system and bound by the evolution laws, freedom is the rarest prize of all.

And to claim it, I must do everything I never thought I would.
