Ants and Eldritch Horror
Community Rating
Description
If Cthulhu can be summoned by humans who are so far beneath it, why can´t humans be summoned by ants?
The answer is, they should be.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I´ve been wasting my time away on Tumblr and stumbled upon a nice Idea. This is the extrapolation of the question; how do ants see humans and how would you react to a bunch of ants chanting your name? Would you give them sugar if they ask nicely? Would you be a benevolent higher Power? Or something way darker and more sinister than you could imagen.
As this is the first story, I have ever written, I could do with some feedback. Thanks
The picture is from Ants Australia - YouTube. Just tell me if I should take another picture.

This is a short story based in a tumblr post which made me laugh out loud when i saw so i was gladly surprised to find this story where its tells you the pros and cons of having your own little cult - Edge ValmondRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style Score:
I do not grade this, but if I have to give something. Know it is in first person PoV, and easy to follow.
Grammar Score:
Seems to be in check, someone else might be able to find an issue. As for me? I think it is fine.
Story Score:
From what I can gather, the perspective is through an ant. Where it covers their life, and who they think are gods. Which are maybe humans I guess? It is an interesting notion. As it proceeds, you get several breakdowns. Sections to say, each covering a part the ant experiences. Where there is a cult I guess, which it looks like things becomes worse as it goes along. The story starts of light, and transitions along smoothly. This makes the world even larger.
Character Score:
Nothing much to say here, as far as I can tell. The only one that can really be understood is the ant. Though, you do get some insight into others. I do not want to potentially spoil anything, the story is quite short.
Overall, it is a solid story. Really gets you thinking, a world that is even larger. Perspective of an ant, it definitely is an interesting take on it. It is a short story, so I do not want to say anymore. I recommend giving it a try yourselves. 🐕 - Heart-burstRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you have 10 minute, read this, so you won't become a karren
- StolenPastaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This has got to be one of the most unique and fun little short stories there are on RR.
Style:
It's about both the Eldritch horror and the ant that summons them and switches POVs quite a bit. It's done in a cutesy manner, very fitting for a short story and the contents. I like it.
Grammar:
No mistakes, though I can't tell if "bevor" is intentional or not...
There are a couple of instances where bevor is used instead of a word like before, but according to google, bevor is german for before?
I'll just leave it at that. Good grammar.
Story:
The story is just too good. It's framed such that we observe the ants in a way and their interactions with the eldritch horror. And it's refreshing seeing their interactions with each other.
It's paced very well for such a short story and really shows the different perspectives involved without it feeling like an info dump. Extremely good use of show don't tell.
Characters:
They are perfect. The ants are fun to have a laugh about but the eldritch horror is very relatable(and you'll see why!). Their interactions with each other are the best you can get when pairing ants and eldritch horrors and really puts into frame what could be happening at a cultist Lovecraftian ritual.
If you have a bit of time, it doesn't take long to read, so have at thee. - ThousandLeavesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the only short story to this date I have reviewed. I never read anything shorter than 300 pages and I did not expect to finish it.
Strangely I did. There is little more to say than I have already written in the title. It is more like an expanded commentary on an idea than a story, but it is interesting all the way.
It probably deserves five* for holding me here till the end. - RainbowfreakRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Not a whole lot in terms of finished story or overachring plot but the premise was lived out and might inspire someone to continue the story where LittleCreepy left it. If you're looking for a quick distraction when you don't feel like reading any of your longer standing serials, this serves as a nice break and maybe a new perspective on how you value yourself.
- Consumer of Forbidden TextsRoyal Road★★★ 3.0As said in the title, this is a very cute short story.
The author puts out the perfect mood for each situation, and has shown beautiful levels of show-and-not-tell.
I definitely recommend.
