I read this on Scribblehub and thought that the next logical step would be to write a review of it on Royal Road.
Be mindful of a tiny amount of spoilers.
I would say the most compelling points of this story would be the characters and psychology at play. In a very short span of words the two main characters are fleshed out then are immediately thrown into a myriad of unique and colorful situations.
The psychology ties into the gimmick of this story which is traveling to other alternate worlds through portrait drawings of the main characters' alternate selves. The characters have to deal with being thrown into completely unknown territory without previous knowledge using only intuition to guide their journey. They react and respond in ways that the reader would understand and feels natural in the situation at hand.
Overall I would say the all these elements tie together to make the shortness of the story better rather than worse.

This is a story about trust, love, and a deep connections between people, that transcend the surface of those people. It gets a bit weird in places, but is still one of my favorite stories on Royal Road. While the style's not my favorite, and the plot's not all that great the entire story is based around the connection between two people, regardless of who they are.

This one is definetly different. I suppose I'll start by saying the writing is pretty good. The characters are well done and the phycological aspects of the story are compelling. I don't think I'll continue with this story though. The plot itself is a bit lackluster in my opinion. As a result of moving through universes, the characters' memories can be completly altered and while they are tring to get back 'home', they don't even remember who they used to be. It is honestly a bit confusing as to who is who at this point. It feels like they are just stumbling from one world to the next without any progress. I like my characters with a bit more competence to them and more interweaving plot lines. This story might just not be for me.
