Description
There's a simple hierarchy in the world; youkai exist to kill humans and hunters exist to kill youkai. As the daughter of a hunter Lilith knows this well, but she didn't expect her life to shatter at the revelation of a dark secret. She is a youkai.
Now, with her life in ruins and facing execution, Lilith must abandon everything she knows. Under cover of darkness, Lilith flees to the port city, searching for a boat headed for Eden, the ringed city at the center of the world. There she hopes to start a new life for herself. But when she sells her spare ticket to a stoic woman named Pandora, she couldn't imagine she was inviting a hunter on the journey with her.
Now, Lilith will have to hide her identity if she hopes to live. A task made more difficult when the two women grow closer and Lilith develops feelings for someone she can never be with.

- justsomedragonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Hey, hey you. Do you like drama? mystery? gay? well uh... you should read anachronistic. pls. do it for me. its really good, the characterization is great, the prose is well written, and while its plot isnt the most complex ever, the execution is spot on, making this just A Really Solid Book.
- IZWRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5From the little I've read, a good story with great depth and distinct characters. Note that I try to rate stories objectively, though I'm sure I fail to do so to some degree or other. Also note that though I'll try to keep my personal out of the rating, I will not do the same for my written review. Now, onto this review of mine.
The style is not unique, per se, but flows well, shining particularly when it comes to how descriptively the writer sets each scene. It is also structurally sound, balancing action, description, and the characters' inner thoughts. All in all, it does not expire awe, but does show an professional level of competence.
The story itself is interesting, set in a world that is defined by the conflict between its two prominent lifeforms. Through the eyes of Lilith, who finds herself straddling the conflict because of her very nature, and through Pandora, a weathered hunter who's made a living out of it, the story explores the dichotomy of love and hate, of survival, and of the intrinsic inclination towards fearing what one doesn't understand. Given I did not get too far into the story, some of that is what I'd inferred. A good plot. Again, not unique, but a good basis for a narrative.
The grammar is great. A few missing commas, some misused semicolons, and an awkward turn of phrase once in a while, but more than readable on the whole.
I liked the two main characters. They're a study in contrast, and I suspect the romance will be based on the concept of how opposites attract. I do hope they grow to take on some of each others characteristics. As it stands, they both fall too far into their stereotypes for my liking.
All in all this is a story worthy of being read. I'd stumbled onto it from the latest updates section, and if I didn't gather from the synopsis that romance would be one of its more substantial themes, which is not my cup of tea, I'd likely have carried on.
